Great food and ambience but questionable wine service

The Sunday brunch is superb and people were truly enjoying themselves. Yet one unobtrusive downside (all too common in the restaurant biz)? Their wine list occasionally lists 'First wines,' e.g., Rauslan-Segla Margaux yet presents the second wine from the same Chateau: namely, "Segla." Very poor... read more

Sit in the bar, if you can. Order mussels and whatever else you want to go with them--frites, risotto of the day, a salad--you can't go wrong. Truly, some of the best mussels I've ever had.

Attention Chef Jeff Black! This restaurant may be going downhill with basic Restaurant 101 not being implemented. The brunch opens at 11:00am Every Sunday for which I have been a loyal monthly patron. Today, March 22nd, I can definitely say the restaurant is going downhill. We came in 11:30am as usual and the restaurant was a third full. By the... More

The atmosphere was great and the food was really good. The wait staff were knowledgeable and very helpful and the food was outstanding. Their seafood is outstanding.

A concerned wine lover.

For some years, a few friends have met irregularly at a restaurant across the street. Today, again, they were in chaos, and again we came to Blacks. Calm atmosphere despite two big office parties, pleasant hostess, and charming server, all made for a delightful lunch. Menu there is always innovative and the raw bar is a favorite. This will be... Took my son, daughter-in-law and wife to Blacks for a return visit to celebrate son's birthday. Table was avaialble when reserved, 7PM on a Saturday evening. Service was excellent as were the specials and the normal menu. Fish dishes were expertly done, my pork chop was quite special, the dessert offerings decadent and the 4 fork chocolate layer cake with... More

We have eaten at this restaurant many times, most recently 10 days ago. The food, particularly the seafood, is well prepared, very tasty and carefully plated. And the service is excellent. However, they hide the prices of their specials. On our most recent visit, the waiter recited the specials without disclosing the prices. I find that is typical these days,... More

We were looking for a place that had an option for unlimited mimosas and something different from the tradition brunch fare. Black's fit the bill perfectly! We opted to get the brunch buffet with unlimited champagne cocktails. Yes, it's pricey ($43 buffet alone or $55 with drinks), but if you go hungry and linger over your meal, you'll get your... More

Had dinner tonight. Four friends for dinner and drinks. Fish dishes are good and so are the sides. The service aka wait staff could use some lessons in smiling and being pleasant. The best thing about the restaurant is the county garage next door.

My husband and I made a follow-up 'date night' reservation at Blacks. We had gone after the Cameo concert for drinks and dessert with friends the prior weekend and couldn't wait to return. We are from the South, Gulf Coast to be exact, so we are very particular about our seafood, especially fried oysters and Blacks didn't disappoint. We even... More
