Grapeseed American Bistro is a casual bistro that matches great food and wine together. With anywhere from 80 to 100 wines by the glass and approximately 325 bottle listed, we cater to the novice wine lover and to the experienced. We start with a bottle of wine and pick out the characteristics and nuances of the wine and then award winning Chef Jeffrey Heineman creates a menu item to highlight the flavors of the wine. So come in and relax, have a taste or a glass of wine and try something on our ever-changing menu.

Unusual and Eclectic Choices

Unusual combo of flavors/eclectic choices for lunch. Try the grilled Caesar salad or gazpacho to start and the kimchee BBQ chicken sandwich or grilled salmon for an entree. Chocolate mousse to finish.

My finance and I went to this restaurant the other night. Unknowingly it was restaurant week which turned out to be greatly in our favor. For restaurant week they had a special of an appetizer, an entree and a dessert for a set price (with upgrade fees on several items). We got excited because this allowed us to try a... More

I have lived in Montgomery County for over 20 years and sometimes get in a rut where we eat at the same 5 or 6 restaurants. husband saw that it was restaurant week and I began looking for restaurants in the Potomac/Bethesda area. Grapeseed offered amazing options, booths are very private and comfortable food was amazing. I had the mushroom... More

Had a group of 8 having a variety of dinner entrees. Mine was the filet special of the night, with garlic mashed potatoes. Had a cheap glass of wine. Check was $45. That gives you the correct impression of value of big city prices. The filet and sauce as excellent and perfectly medium rare. There was one vegetarian entrée on... More

Grape seed used to be a pleasure to go to: very good food, good service, nice ambiance. No more. Food still good, but service terrible: slooooow, dirty dishes left on table for 15-20 minutes between courses, very inattentive, had to ask for bread, out of wine that we requested. We were a party of 8 with a bill of $... More

Nice restaurant near NIH in Bethesda. Very interesting menu so I decided to try the soup of the day, butternut, and a couple of appetizers, gnocchi and Korean barbeque tacos. All the food was very good and the service excellent. The only negative was that I found the appetizers pricey..

Everything about Grapeseed was perfect. The food was extraordinary and the service was outstanding. I hosted a working dinner in their wine cellar room. Everything from our appetizers to dessert was fabulous. Most of all, I want to thank Jeff and his staff for letting us stay past closing so that we could finish our project. I can't wait to... More

First time in this restaurant, as we are traveling. Arrived at noon for light lunch. Service was excellent. We were able to get a seat by the window, which looks out on the street. So the view was limited, but the menu was not. We had one order of the Fish and Chips, which were very good, and I took... More

Do NOT approach business women and tell them that when they dine out they shouldn't be on a diet. Really? How obnoxious. Then open the wine list to the wines by the glass assuming we wouldn't order a bottle. We ordered two glasses of white before a $120 bottle of pinot noir. Then, have the entrees arrive when we haven't... More

We met as a group of 10 for dinner. The location was convenient with valet parking in the front. The service was excellent and the waiter was very good at accommodating our various requests. Everyone was quite pleased with the food which was provided a variety of options for various palettes. I recommend this local restaurant for large and small... More
