An Airy Dining Room with Excellent & Well-Spiced Asian Cuisine

The first thing that strikes you upon entering is how high the ceiling is, how large & airy (but mercifully quiet) the dining area is, and how subdued but pleasant the lighting. The menu - at least as much Thai as Malaysian if not more - is quite long & diverse. Our six or so dishes were all over... read more

I used to come here regularly when I lived in the area in 2004 to 2009 and recently on a trip back ordered enough food to last me for the week visit. I was born in Malaysia and miss/crave authentic Malaysian. This place is excellent and almost completely authentic. I have not tried their Thai food so cannot comment on... More

I grew up in Penang, so I was sort of expecting a different cooking style. Good, though, for someone homesick in the ice and snow!

2 people in our family thought the other one was making dinner, resulting in the need for take out. My son had recently been to Penang and really enjoyed it. He said the atmosphere was nice and the food was better when you eat it in the restaurant. Not that the food was bad. It was perfectly fine, but missing... More

Got takeout while visiting friends in Bethesda. Everything was very yummy. We got a flat noodle dish hokkien, similar to drunken noodles - (excellent, everyone loved this!) a curry, Tom yum lemongrass soup (excellent but warning ... Spicy!), roti (good but not much to the order). I would like to go back to eat there as it looked very clean... More

We ordered Hokkien Noodle and beef stew curry noodle. While the taste was pretty tasty, both dishes didn't have the authentic flair. DH loved his teh tarik though! Plenty of seats. Wait staffs were courteous and prompt. Will come back for another visit when we're in town.

Brought here by a Malaysian colleague who rates this an 8 on a 10 point scale for Malaysian cuisine (I want to find that 10!). The spices are delightful. The shrimp wrapped in bacon unbelievably decadent (and probably not wise). The noodles, vegetables, and curries spectacular. Local neighborhood restaurant easily reached by foot from the Bethesda Metro stop. Came all... More

I lived in Malaysia for many years and so I am happy to trek across DC to get Malaysian food. The food is not quite authentic but it's not bad. My husband thought the rendang was excellent. The Udang me (prawn noodles) was good. My favorite is the teh Tarik. Check out how they make in on YouTube, awesome. I... More

Was a hike getting there from our hotel in DC (train, bus and walking) but it was worth the trip. Highly recommended. The dishes must be cooked by a true Penangite!

Penang is like a hidden jewel towards the end of the street. Its a huge restaurant but whenever i have been here (usually for dinner) the place is... More
