Better than ever

Our latest experience at Chef Tony's was better than ever (previous time - last year? - wasn't quite as fine although it WAS good). A 6:00 reservation on the Sunday of a holiday weekend probably helped: the noise level was low (until later) since there were few other diners at that time and we... read more

Enjoyed a nice family dinner here. The food was good--very fresh and nicely prepared. They were a little short staffed on a Sunday evening. I wish they had a few smaller offerings in entrees.

Thank you for your honest feedback, I read all these personally and it DOES matter. If you could elaborate a little, gifting me the opportunity to improve, I’d really appreciate it. Send an email if you can to cheftony@cheftonysbethesda, and YES, I read them all. Thanks again. More

Whenever I think about revisiting Chef Tony's, that scene from "Dirty Harry" pops into my head, in which Clint Eastwood points a gun with an indeterminate number of bullets remaining at a man's head and asks "Are you feeling lucky?" One thing is certain. You will pay a hefty bill. Everything else is a crap shoot. For example, if you... More

Trip Advisor is a new platform for my attention, and your creative and point blank review has my attention. Consistency is the name of the game in my industry, and while I take particular offense to "disgusting" as an option, since you laid it out there, please give me just a moment to understand better what might have caused you... Waiter was not interested in taking care of us, saw the water attendant more often than the waiter. I thought he was the waiter but we were the ones who waited. Food was very good. Go if you have a lot of time to spend.

Thank you for your honest feedback, I read all these personally and it DOES matter. Service is crucial, and while we want to be personable, proper service standards come first. Inattentive waiters frustrate the heck out of me, and I’m embarrassed and outraged that our service felt as such. If you could elaborate a little, gifting me the opportunity to... More

We came for brunch, my gf ordered the salmon which comes with plantains (one of them was 100% rotten) see the picture I added. I ordered the steak and eggs, got 3 tiny pieces of over dried flank steak and I ordered it medium (see 2nd pic). The worst thing in restaurant is that moment when you have a doubt... More

I appreciate your time in writing your review, and please let me address to the best I can. Did you bring up your "rotten" plantain to the server or manager? We serve a ton of these, and honestly never get word one negative... if one happened to be not to your liking, we'd gladly replace with a full order, no... More

Went with a party of four. The other couple used a Groupon coupon and so the meals were only $20 dollars each for three courses. The three course pre fixe menu is pretty extensive and had everything on it I wanted. I got a marinated anchovy and pepper appetizer, entree of monk fish, and tiramasu for dessert. All was wonderful.... More

Chef Tony here, thank you for your kind comments, I really appreciate you taking the time to write... We DO love serving salmon on the rarer side, but never would insist...perhaps next time just make sure our server communicates clearly with you and our kitchen your preferred cooking temperature on the fish..we are simply here to please. See you next... More

Since we had gone there for dinner before, we thought we would try their them for brunch. The menu had nothing really special, but I usually get an omelet and they had plenty of choices.. We were seated immediately upon arrival in a nice cozy spot. however, that is where the great experience ended. the waiter had obviously had a... More

I appreciate your time in writing, seems silly things that could have been better executed on. Our omelets are 6 oz of egg, probably more like 3 eggs than 4...training opportunity for me. Splitting the omelet would have been no big deal, and we do it often...I surely would have done that if asked, my apologies for that...simple guest service.... More

The coupon is used with a special menu, not the standard menu. It was an excellent value. Choice of Appetizer, Main and Dessert provided numerous options. Caesar Salad was very good. The trout was excellent. Crème Brulee was also good.

My wife and I had dinner there last night and the title says it all: "Great seafood, cozy atmosphere, creative dishes, excellent service". This is a charming little restaurant that Chef Tony has made excellent use of space. Our server, Daniel, was one of the friendliest we've ever had, and his recommendations were great! All the seafood is prepared fresh... More

I really appreciate the return visits, and the time invested in writing… What we do in the future to get fives across the board? Your kind words will be shared with Daniel, but I think we ARE the kind of place for special events...perhaps not so showy or "brass and marble" but we have a lot of celebrations here, wedding... We went there for the first time with a groupon purchase. As it turned out, we were allowed to order main course from the regular menu with a $5 surcharge. This was a great deal, as my husband liked bronzino and it was not on the 3-course menu. Everything we ordered was very good, particularly the bronzino. The 3-course group... More
