I love the Pines of Rome. I have been going there for 42 years and just went back last night for the first time in 7 years. IT WAS EXACTLY THE SAME! The white pizza with fontina - succulent; the fried zucchini - light and lemony; batter fried soft shell crabs - to die for; rum cake - ethereal (provided... More

So I am hoping we were there on a bad night but I'm not sure. We heard great things about Pines of Rome but found the food pretty lackluster and boring. The Chicken Parmigiana was a large chicken breast that looked and tasted like it had been deep fried, had a slice of cheese slapped on it and a dab... More

We came by here on our last night in Bethesda and loved it. All the posters and maps of places in Italy, the nice service plus friendly customers. The table next to us had a couple in their 80s who had been going to this restaurant for decades! Based on the reviews here, I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, which... More

A friend who used to live in DC loves this place. I see why. It's delicious. It's also inexpensive. It's near the red line too:-)

This is not a place for gluten free dining. I had a true to form spaghetti and meatballs. DELICIOUS. The provided a dessert that was also quite good. We had a party of 5 and everyone enjoyed their meal. Worth a stop. Not a fancy place but basic tasty food and the pricing was about right.

I do not think be wrong much; in fact I am proud to hit almost all of the choices and my reviews. I am picky in their choices in order to avoid shocks to my stomach. P.o.R., except for the distinctive literary appeal, for me is the reference point among outstanding washingtonian restaurants. The ambiance, the friendliness and above all... More

Can't go wrong here. The food is well prepared at decent prices If you don't mind the bones, their flounder is good. It's been in Bethesda for years. Homey atmosphere.

Our family has been coming to "the Pines" for over 30 years. Our kids, and now our grand kids, love it and know the menu by heart. The place is known for its appetizers -- white pizza with fontina cheese, white beans, red peppers, and escarole with garlic and oil. We frequently make a meal of the appetizers, or might... More

I've had dinner here many times with a close friend and business man. Boring realy as we order the same meal every time, Thats how good it is. The white pizza is wonderful but be carefull to leave room for the most delicious roast veal available . I bring out of town guests as well as family here. It's not... More

The worst Italian food around. I can't understand why some folks like this grungy looking excuse of a restaurant. I like absolutely nothing there. The pizza is bad and everything I've tried is tasteless and dull. A bargain is only a bargain if its worthwhile.
