Very good food at reasonable prices

This restaurant has been around forever and is one of my "go to" places; I've eaten here literally hundreds of times and it never disappoints. I went there twice for office lunches and both time had trouble eating my entire meal. The pasta was dry, not without sauce, but sitting around to long dry noodles. The lasagna and pizza's were really greasy. Salads were bland and could have been fresher. The restaurant seemed old and worn.

Pines of Rome is an institution in Bethesda. Everybody, except me, in my family loves it and would rate it with the highest review. For some reason, I never have connected with it. The family swears by the thin crust pizza, thinking it is one of the best in the area. I think it is OK. There is nothing fancy... More

I'm 49, and my family has patronized 'Pines' since I was a child. They have been renowned for the duration for their White Pizza with Fontina cheese. It's the best you will ever taste. Other favorite dishes are a Fred Flintstone-sized Roast Rib of Veal, whole Flounder, Jumbo Shrimp Parmagian and classics like Sausage & Peppers with Spaghetti or Linguini... More

There's nothing fancy at Pines of Rome, but it's hard to beat for a good Italian meal at reasonable prices. Dining alone, I had Chicken Cacciatore and it was finger-lickin good. Friendly service and comfort food. A great combination.

The kids had pizza and spaghetti and loved both of them. The special was a whole fish and the entire family, even the 4 and 6 year olds enjoyed that. It was Delish! The shrimp dish was a little disappointing otherwise would have given five Stars. Will definitely take the kids back - nice staff, not too fancy and kid... More

I used to be a regular here, 30 yrs ago, til I moved away. 6 yrs ago, I was delighted to find they had kept up their outstanding food and service. This past weekend- I had the eggplant parmesan yet again, and it is incredible!!!! All eggplant (no breading!!!) tomatoes and cheese!. Better than I have had in Italy!!! This... More

I could ask the other reviewers why they are so excited about this place, but I don't think I would understand. How could I? I deeply respect their opinion but this seems a bad restaurant from the '60s time-capsuled in Bethesda 55 years later. This unique place on earth where I left almost all of my pizza in the dish,... The food was awesome and the service was even better. It is a small place and very pleasant. Off the beaten path but very much worth walking a side road for.
