very good greek cafe

Yama's is in the dining district surrounding Bethesda Metro, half a block behind the doubletree hotel where I was staying. Casual, friendly, crowded enough to indicate good cooking but no problem getting a table at dinnertime. Very reasonable prices, especially compared to expense-account restaurants nearby. Food was very good, not the best Greek i've ever had, but well above average.... More

Went for lunch on a Sunday. Not too busy but was kinda late for lunch. Server was Gabby - helpful, funny, and attentive. Had dolmas, chicken souvlaki, gyro, bakalava, and rice pudding. Tzatziki is to die for!! Reasonably priced. Offers take out and indoor seating. Would be good for families, groups, or couples. Casual attire. Fast service. Highly recommend... Can't... More

Now is a great time to enjoy Greek olives, olive oil, and amazing fresh, quality traditional plates and platters of grilled meats like gyro lamb, chicken, kabobs, and vegetarian dishes like hummus, grape leaves, spanakopita and delightful soups, salads, sandwiches, and more. YAMAS means "to our health", so it seemed ironic to discover this gem for lunch or dinner waiting... More

atmosphere is very nice & friendly food was delicious, but unfortunately they ran out of octopus (which was the reason I choose this restaurant), next time I should call before I come in.

I love eating at Yamas. I eat gluten free and the wait staff is great about accommodating me. First off, when we order the Troy Platter, - baba ganoush, hummos, Tzatziki and taramosalata with pita , they bring some fresh vegetables for me. My friends tell me the pita bread is delicious. Another nice touch is being able to order... More

I had lunch here twice. Greek salad was good, but the fresh grilled veggies are to die for! I drizzled a little of their homemade greek dressing over the veggies and made a complete meal of them on my second visit. They also make a killer Mojito...plenty of fresh mint and lime. Be sure to hit it on happy hour... More

We were coming home from visiting DC for the Cherry Blossom festivities and planning to stop by Yamas Grill in Washington. It was on our way so we checked it and saw that it was more like a take-out place with two small tables. There was nothing wrong with the place and we are not fancy eaters but we were... More

We visited for dinner and lunch as it was across our hotel. The staff is very courteous. It's a small place as you get in you can sit where you want. They have a bar and specials. Alcohol is expensive so be careful what you order. Mojitos were $10 each. If you can make it at happy hour it's better... More

Best casual Greek for miles. Great for the whole family. Service can be spotty depending on what member of the family is working, but food is always good. You can get a fast, healthy homecooked meal here at a fair price.

Simple meals served with a big smile.. The bartender is great.. Always on top of things.. I ordered the grilled chicken kebab, my wife went with a vegetarian platter.. The food is more than enough for two people. A hole in the wall place with food that is homemade.. Definitely a place to come back and try the other menu... More
