Authentic and delicious!

Excellent food in a quiet and down to earth restaurant. I lived in Europe for three years and love Italian food and trattoria sorrento is as good (if not better) than anything I ate in italy. In town for treatment at NIH and discovered this place through reviews, etc. Did not disappoint. Great salads and gnocchi. Loved the Italian playlist in the background. Solid Italian winless reasonably priced. Would highly recommend.

My family and I have been coming here for years. It is family owned and operated. Excellent offerings every night. Fresh cuisine, made to order meals, excellent wine pairings. Excellent, friendly staff that knows when to come by and when not.

There's a reason that this restaurant has existed for so long--consistantly good food and reasonable prices. The extensive menu has something for everybody, from pasta to meat to seafood--or a combination of them. Servers are friendly and do not rush your meal. Convenient parking available next door.

Service was really slow, two tables were occupied. Pasta was too thick and al dente for my taste. Sauce was good. Brought the appetizers, salads, and entrees all at once....what's that about?

We went for Opera night and had a great time. Food was delicious especially the prosciutto/cantaloupe appetizer--that was excellent-- and I'm not a prosciutto fan. Lasagna & tiramisu are my favorite items -- all house made and fresh. Opera Night sells out so get your reservations in early.

I've known the family for 20 years and Carlo and Maria are awesome...the faire is homestyle but also sophisticated...when I want Italian I go here exclusively...the background music is Italian or easy listening Sinatra type and the total experience is relaxing and very italiano...

We had read some great things about this restaurant on Trip Advisor so were excited to dine there and when we arrived we loved the décor, but unfortunately our waitress on the Thursday evening we visited was either too busy or having a bad day because once we let her know we did not need drinks other than water or... We had a celebration dinner (for 20!) at Sorrentos - a long time favorite of ours. This is a family run restaurant where the food is authentic Italian trattoria style - the kind you will find in small enchanting Italian towns. Giovvani’si family helped us plan everything from the seating, wine to dessert. We have a lot of vegetarians in... More

Family owned and operated, Trattoria Sorrento offers old world charm and hospitality in oft-times too fast Bethesda. The meals are well-proportioned, tasty, and authentic. Live opera is offered periodically on weekends, but the real charm is going into a restaurant where you feel welcome and there's a desire to have you return. Delightful!
