Two friends and I enjoyed a delicious al fresco dinner at Praline this evening. We asked to be seated on the attractive patio. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy, and it was quiet and relaxing sitting outside -- much nicer than the craziness of downtown Bethesda. Our waiter was generally attentive, and was knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. The... More

I've been meaning to visit Praline for a while and finally made it last Friday. The outdoor patio is lovely with flowers and shrubs. Be warned: the indoor stairs are many up to the patio. There's an elevator somewhere and also outside access to the patio but it's not evident. I can't say the food was extraordinary. My Croque Monsieur... More

For two years we neighbors peaked through whitewashed glass windows in anticipation of Praline's opening. Finally and worth the wait. Flakey croissants to die for, croque madames and the best onion soup. Over time the word got around and the stampede found its way to their bakery and cafe..the result these days....by 1145am on any given Saturday there isn't a... More

We had been regulars at this restaurant since it opened. We loved the wonderful French cuisine- fresh, delicious seasonal food cooked in a way that made the taste of the food shine. We used to eat here every week. After the chef left, things have sadly declined. I was taken to dinner there last night. I ordered red snapper, which... More

In a most unprepossessing setting -- a very ordinary strip mall in Bethesda -- lurks a fabulous French bakery and a pleasant bistro. The macaroons are not far below the quality of the famous Ladurre ones in Paris (and now also in New York), the cakes rival one another in quality and temptation, and the breakfast raisin rolls are just... The best in town, that I have found. Fresh, creative and reasonable. Counter help would be better if it could communicate.

For starters, any bakery/bistro located within a strip mall cannot receive 5 star by virtue of the fact that the location is less than desirable. The pastries we're delicious and the cafe au lait was mediocre. Service was subpar since there was a language barrier at first. No, not French, but the Spanish girls behind the counter were challenged with... More

My wife and I had an excellent Mother's Day brunch. The location was great. Easy parking, pleasant decor and a lovely patio for outdoor seating. Food was very good. Was delivered promptly. Preparation was very good, quality of ingredients also very good and the portions were generous. I had the salade Nicoise which was fine. Although not exciting, the salad... More

We just returned from a wonderful lunch at Praline Bakery and Restaurant. The lunch menu has great variety and plenty of salads so we had room for the delicious desserts. The opera cake was fantastic! Lovely lunch with the exception of the mediocre coffee. We will return to try more desserts!!!
