Great Chinese food

Great food and service! Lemon chicken is really good. We will definitely be back. Take out is also available.

Having been regulars here before moving to Charleston, SC several years ago, the dearth of real Chinese food in a city otherwise known for fine dining was truly worth a detour for us on a recent trip to DC. Walking in and seeing the daily specials, we were past thrilled to see soft shell crabs written on the board. Going... More

This restaurant has great reviews on TripAdvisor but very mixed reviews on Yelp. The Peking Duck gets outstanding reviews. We decided to go here for my son's birthday as he loves Peking Duck. Unfortunately, this was not one of the better nights of this seemingly inconsistent restaurant. The service was indifferent to poor. (We would have thought we would have... More

I have been going to Shanghai Village since the 1980's, when it was China Village located on Bethesda Row. Kwok Cheung, the owner, has been instrumental in the success of this restaurant. He always insists on using the freshest and best ingredients and is the keeper of many of the restaurant's secret recipes. By far the BEST Peking duck I... More

I've been coming to Shanghai Village with my family for years. Every one of our visits has been rewarded with consistently awesome food. I've never had better Peking duck at any other restaurant! Mr. Kwok even comes to the table to personally carve the duck in front of you. He's so quick and skillful, it's incredible. We've always LOVED his... More

My wife and i had lunch at Shanghai Village and were very disappointed after many years of better fare. Very bland, watery San Shien Soup (waiter didn't tell us there was large bowls of noodle soups available after we asked). So so meat dumplings--at least they were freshly steamed. Bland dish of Singapore Style Rice Noodles--almost tasteless with curry added... More

The food is not cheap. Nor is it over the top expensive. What you can count on is the food iwll be FRESH, High Quality, and full of flavor. This gem of a restaurant is run by Chef Kwok, a silver haired hard working man from China. He often comes out to meet his favorite clients some of whom happen... More

Went with a friend who had been there many times. I loved the steamed dumplings, especially with the hot chili sauce. We ordered Moo Shu Pork and it was really good. The order was so big, we even took some home. The spring rolls were not worth ordering, they tasted like the frozen ones. Even with a glass of wine,... More

We had such a hard time finding another go-to Chinese restaurant after our favorite in the area closed. This fit the bill. Excellent flavor in their dishes.
