We were at Assaggi on a Saturday night. We waited 25 minutes for our reserved 7:30 table. Our server was very attentive and the food, though over-priced was good. The table was cramped and located in an area where their was constant traffic all around us with tight aisles and people bumping into our chairs constantly as they tried to... More

My wife and I had been to this rather expensive restaurant once before and decided that the restaurant week specials (i.e., a three-course dinner for $30.00 per person) were too tempting to pass up. We each started with a salad of mache lettuce and beets crumbled with goat cheese - delicious. Next, we shared two entrees - sea bass on... More

Pleasantly surprised, Sitting in the sidewalk of Bethesda Ave. on a beautiful Spring day with friends is always a pleasure. Enhancing the experience with good food tops it off. Beginning our culinary experience at Assaggi with various appetizer's, each one better than the other, my wife and I enjoyed a exquisitely prepared snapper for two, we ended our meal with... More

The is a very expensive restaurant in the heart of Bethesda. While the food is good, it isn't anything special, or something you can't find at a better price point. Their vegetarian menu is also very limited. If I were to go back, it would be for a glass of wine and a cheese course at the bar. The atmosphere... More

As the Wedding Director of the Hemingway Home in Key West I enjoy a "special dinner" almost every week. When visiting my fiancée in Chevy Chase we CLEARLY have one very special romantic restaurant we enjoy time after time....Assagi, the absolutely best food, ambiance and service! 5-star rating in my book.

Can't go wrong here. The pasta is fresh. The wine list is excellent. The veals and meats are teriffic. We really like the meat and cheese appetizer dishes, too.

Thia review is actually for the McLean outpsot of Assaggi. McLean , despite it's demographics is a relative reatuarnt wasteland. Asasaggi is one of the exceptions. Authentic, well prepared Italian with a nice wine list and warm service. Relaxed enough for a night with the family dressed in jeans, but special enough for a date night or anniversary. It's our... Meandered into this inviting Bethesda bar after visiting Arlington National Cemetery and the George Washington University Bookstore, familiar spots during our 1980s McLean, VA-Georgetown residences. Nearby at the bar, recognized DC political commentator & TV personality Tucker Carlson, and chatted with him & his 13 yr old daughter for a few minutes. Great guy, very friendly and funny. Then we... Have eaten here at least 10 times in the past year and I don't understand the negative reviews. They either don't understand what good authentic Italian food is, or else they are expecting a budget meal - Since I go to Italy about 6-8 time a year, I can tell you that I know good Italian food when I see...
