Not as good last night

I was looking forward to a great Italian dinner after traveling in India and having only Indian food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I was sure that Assaggi wouldn't disappoint. But, alas, it did. I had my usual, bolognaise. It was gummy, acidic and otherwise not up to their standards. A total... read more

The Restaurant defends the prestige of Italian cuisine but it is not excelled. Great service, attention to customer needs as well, but the writer along with the other three guests were expected a culinary dedication more accurate especially on pasta dishes. Selected wines and sympathy of the environment and the staff. The next time we would like to meet with... More

I tried to make reservations today, and couldn't get through by phone, Open Table or the contact information link on their Web Site. I called their McLean Restaturant, and was told that the Bethesda Restaurant was closed. Too bad - I heard it was a great place to eat!

This is another of my favorite restaurants in Bethesda.. the food and service is excellent most times with possible exceptions on the service during times when the restaurant is jam packed with diners. (Valentine's Day dinners, for example.) I was last at the restaurant for Happy Hour and almost made a meal out of what I ordered for Happy Hour.... More

Met friends who live in town who had this place recommended by neighbour. As the potential to really good restaurant...... .... Good mostly Northern Italian menu. I really enjoyed the beet "Rape" salad, but the breaded veal Milansese was fantastic especially with the side order of spaghetti pomodoro that seemed somewhat reluctant to serve (very Italian!) . Great smooth Tuscan... More

I really enjoyed this restaurant! The food was the best Italian fare by far in the area, and I've had my share. I would definitely go back again. The location is wonderful, in the midst of shops and other fine dining with a vibrant atmosphere. The fresh mozzarella was the best I've ever tasted and the pasta was perfectly prepared.... More

This restaurant serves good Italian food and the service on our visit (despite the reviews to the contrary) was good. The atmosphere is so-so, but what can you do at the location this is at? All in all, Assaggi wouldn't get any stars in Guide Michelin, but if you are in Bethesda anyway, it is a good choice for Italian... More

We eat at Assaggi regularly. The food is consistently excellent and the service is very attentive, especially if Wadi is your waiter. The mozzarella plate is unique and tasty, and the pasta is always fresh and well-prepared. The wine list is very good, especially if you like Italian reds. It is where we always go when we want a nice,... More

There weren't that many restaurants taking reservations for Thanksgiving and reviews for this place were good, so I took a chance. They offered a prix fixe menu for Thanksgiving that offered their spin on traditional American fate. It was all excellent! Service was excellent and the decor was outstanding. Removing the TVs would complete the look. The TVs made it... More
