The approach to the Dockside Restaurant is all part of the Dockside’s charm. You are treated to views of the York River and the grand “summer cottages” as you turn onto Harris Island Road to reach Dockside Restaurant. The view is quintessential Maine, people hustling up and down the docks, gleaming yachts and colorful lobster boats in front of a rock and pine-tree shore. Dockside’s recent renovation is perfect, warm and comfortable. Hardwood floors, European style lighting floor to ceiling window and a new mahogany bar with an adjoining outdoor cocktail deck. During warm months seating is available on our harbor view screen porch. The atmosphere is casual but the food is serious. Chef Dennis la Planet has been recognized as a “chef’s chef”. North Atlantic seafood prepared with a northern Italian influence and aged steaks are just the start. Lunch features organic salads, creative sandwiches and traditional favorites; fish and chips, chowders and fried clams too.

Delicious food properly prepared and presented

We ate a late lunch at the Dockside - they were fully booked for dinner and we had to eat early. The steamed lobster was delicious, as were the fried oysters. Service was outstanding, the restaurant is modern and has a great view to go with the excellent food. We had cocktails and I remarked to... read more

This is perhaps one of the most complex trip advisor reviews I've written. There were so many different experiences all packed into one evening that taken as a whole would give Dockside an average rating. All things taken separately though this review could go anywhere from excellent to poor. The view from the porch is wonderful and most of the... More

Whether you're staying right in York or have decided to get out of the crowds and parking hassles of Portsmouth in the summer, get over to The Dockside and escape to Maine, where..it's the way life should be. Dockside is out on Harris Island in York, with harbor and water views in two directions. There is adequate parking right on... More

Do sit out on the screened porch. Don't eat the bread (boring) and butter (tasteless). Don't order the strawberry salad (freeze dried fruit in August in Maine? How is that a good idea on any measure?). Don't order the crab cakes. (I tasted. No taste. Added salt and pepper. No taste. Tried cocktail sauce. No dice. What a shame.) Don't... More

My daughter and I were in York for a few days and wanted to have a nice dinner at somewhere other than the usual tourist traps. We searched online and found the Dockside. We were so pleased with our experience. Not only was the setting beautiful, the food was excellent. We had the drunken lobster which consisted of a huge... More

Without knowing much about the Dockside Restaurant beforehand, except through TripAdvisor, my wife and I stopped by for lunch when visiting York, attracted by the location on the harbor. We were not disappointed. We sat in the screened in outside porch on a beautiful sunny day, and the food was very good and reasonably priced. While the restaurant was not... More

This may be the noisiest restaurant I have ever eaten. I suppose young people might like it, but I would advise old folks to stay away. The food was tasty.

Better than the food, the setting of this restaurant in wonderful. Right on the water in York Harbor, you can watch the boats and the birds from your table. The food was good, slightly better than average. A decent place for a decent meal.
