We have been going to the Muddy Rudder for years but no more.I am done. It used to be a nice place for a good fish dinner (My favorite) but lately its small portions & fish that look as if they should have been thrown back. the cook(for want of another word) did nothing to enhance its flavor or appearance.... This is a very consistent place. Chowder is good .... food is always good. Not to be missed. Wish they would bring the decor into the 21st Century....I feel like I'm eating in a 1970 restaurant. But not to worry the food keeps the place busy.

Hubs and I were on a New England Fall Foliage trip and this restaurant was just down the road from our hotel. We loved the New England house look of the outside and the interior was just lovely. Being from Kansas, neither of us are big seafood fans, so we were a little concerned. The waiter was so friendly, helpful,... More

We have been going to the restaurant for years and always look forward to their Lobster Pie. Sadly, the restaurant changed hands a few years ago and this item was removed from the menu. We settled on the Seafood Casserole with a sherry cream sauce. My husbands' was fine but mine had no sauce, it was completely dry with a... More

My wife and I left OOB, heading north on Route 1. There wasn't much for non-fast food until we came upon this place. We got to sit on their back deck, which had a great water view from one side, and staring at the highway from the other. So my wife and I sat next to eachother looking at the... More

We were looking for lobster rolls. We found lobster rolls - so-so - nothing to write home about. I ordered fish and chips. What a mistake - chips were ok but fish was terrible. Normally the fish is crispy and good but this fish was baked, minimal, if any, breading and blah! No flavor at all. Then when looking around... More

How often do you run into a waitress who just doesn't care? Ordered drinks & asked what the special was. Probably asked too much- somewhat disdainful answer was it wasn't written up yet would have to wait until 5pm. Hey, maybe at 4:45pm they still didn't know- could have found out by going to the kitchen and asking, but... Have... More

This restaurant has beautiful views of the adjacent estuary and is a family friendly environment. The food is okay to good, depending on what one orders. Service is professionally polite but slow.

I really wanted to like this place. We were staying at the hotel and the top of the hill. Had just driven in from Acadia in torrential rain and didn't want to venture out again so we were going to order pizza delivery to the room. However, restaurant menu was in our room and looked promising, especially after six days... More
