A nice surprise

We arrived late at the adjoining Best Western, and decided to walk to the Muddy Rudder for dinner. We were surprised at the upscale decor, and found the menu very interesting. Because it was late we opted for a light dinner, and the food was very good. Service was a bit slow.

When we told a local lady that we were going to go look for a lobster roll, she suggested that we go here and we were so glad that we did! It was not only huge, it was delicious! Back home in Atlanta, we think about that lobster roll a lot! The service was great and we sat by the... More

I had a fish dish, was tasty but the roasted red potatoes were over cooked and dry. My boyfriend got the fried seafood platter. Huge dish with all fresh seafood (fries were just run of the mill) and the fried scallops were the best we have ever had. They literally melted in our mouths. The place is a bit pricey,... More

we ate here New Years Eve and though the menu was limited due to a fry-a-later break down head an enjoyable and very good experience. Service, food and price were excellent for a busy night.

My wife and I had eaten a late lunch, so only ordered appetizers, but they were delicious, so we assume the entrees are probably very good too. We ordered the crab cakes and the "smothered potato chips" (I'm not sure what they are called on the menu, but they were potato chips made on site, and covered with a sauce... More

My husband and I ate here twice during our recent three day stay in Freeport - as always the evening was most enjoyable. The ambiance here is so nice - and all the wait staff is terrific. Our salads were fresh and good and main courses were excellent (as always). This is one of the most reliable and best restaurants... More

We had not eaten here for a year or so. When we got the menu, some of the dishes I enjoyed were no longer there. I asked about one of them and our waitress said they had changed the menu a bit ago and the one I had inquired about had been removed. It was brunch time and not finding... More

We dine at the Muddy Rudder often...nice views, pretty dining room and bar area. Very nice servers and a very well-designed menu. Fish and seafood are the stars here, but they have varied salads, chicken, pork, and beef selections. Hot and delicious soups and chowders...lobster bisque and the most amazing signature Rudder Chips (we always order these)...Homemade potato chips with... More
