We really enjoyed our experience at Muddy Rudder. We went there on a Thursday afternoon for lunch. The service was good but not very fast. That was fine with us but just be aware of that if you want to eat there. We sat outside on the deck overlooking the water and it was lovely. The highway noise is distracting... More

The Muddy Rudder is on a tidal inlet with pretty views from the back of the restaurant. It is just south of Freeport, near exit 17. Entrees were reasonably priced and well prepared. I would definitely eat here again if I was in the area.

We stopped in for dinner on a Tuesday evening without a reservation, and we're able to sit at an outside table overlooking the marsh. It was a beautiful, warm night with a gorgeous view. Our waitress was charming and friendly, and very attentive. The wine list is good and quite reasonable. Our dinner was excellent. We will definitely return.

Arriving near 1pm on a lovely summer's day, all the outdoor tables were full as were the other tables near the large windows looking out on the salt marsh. We scored a hi-top in the bar--voila, nice view. Tony, the bar-tender, was very pleasant, offered a sample of a beer that I was unfamiliar with (by the way, excellent selection... More

We stopped at the Muddy Rudder while we stayed in Freeport. We did not have a reservation, but there were several empty tables. We got a drink at the bar, which had a decent selection of beers on tap. After about 20 minutes, we were seated. It took about 15 minutes for our waitress to visit. My wife ordered a... More

An upscale dining experience. The restaurant has pleasant staff, with good food that was well presented in a pleasant atmosphere. Some might consider it a bit pricey but it was well worth it and we did have drinks and dessert which always brings up tab . The restaurant is a cut above.

Went for lunch and had the baked haddock-- a luncheon sized serving-- adequate portion but on the smallish side if you are hungry. The haddock had a sherry like ( I think!) flavoring that gave it an odd-ish taste-- somewhat different-- but okay. If I were to go again for lunch, would try a burger or a lobster roll. Noted... This is a tough one......I really can't say too much about the food...As it was good.Especially the rolls. Here's the deal on the fare we ordered. My wife ordered the stuffed ravioli with spinach in a heavy cream sauce. Not what she was expecting...But good none - the - less. Our friend ordered the shrimp scampi on fettuccine, and it also had scallops... Had lunch on a sunday at 12. Got seated outside on a beautiful day at high tide. I had the haddock sandwich and my husband had the chicken sandwich. We both had a mimosa and shared an appetizer. Everything was very good, and the appetizer (chips with chicken) was very good. The price was 43$ which I think was awesome.... More

The title says it all. The owners and staff know how to please their customers and it shows in everything they do. From the impeccably clean and attractive facility, to the freshest, tastiest meals we've had at any restaurants around the area. Although the restaurant has been around for many years, it has undergone a renaissance in the past few... More
