Food good - service needs polishing

First time here since ownership change. With another couple who had been once since 233 Grill, and suggested we join them. The crispy duck appetizer with plum sauce was very tasty and a good value. The crispy risotto cakes with shrimp & mushrooms was the most interesting dish on the... read more

We have dinner here about once a month, and really enjoy 233. There's good variety, and there is a healthy jambalaya dish my husband always gets (he has a restricted diet). I find the place cozy -- not too fancy but not too simple. Nice range of drinks at the bar, good service, great location. Had brunch here for Easter... More

Perhaps the other reviewers who had bad service were here on an off night: came to Bistro 233 for Brunch today and service was flawless. Waitress was both polite and knowledgeable, and we were incredibly happy with the quality of the food. For brunch, they spun up a traditional homefries dish by adding sweet potato and red pepper, which was... More

first visit since the ownership change-this place has actually gotten worse... we were seated in the middle of the dining room even though there were plenty of booth seats available, table rocked back and forth and was uncomfortable to sit at... Butcher block special was Flat Iron Steak with something called Carrot Hash that the server could not quite explain...yikes...... More

I went in for one drink, but Sam made me the best Manhattan I've ever tasted, the second one was a must. Thanks for the great drink!

First time here since ownership change. With another couple who had been once since 233 Grill, and suggested we join them. The crispy duck appetizer with <spicy!> plum sauce was very tasty and a good value. The crispy risotto cakes with shrimp & mushrooms was the most interesting dish on the menu, and didn't disappoint - would order it again... More

I stopped in, had a very nice "wedge" at the bar, but the place now seems just plain grubby. The new owners seem to think that a coat of garish blue paint behind the bar transforms the place into a bistro. Not so. The staff is nice, but the place just looks old and tired, chipped paint here and there,... More

We were hungry and wanted a good meal. This was a pleasant enough looking place, and the mussels were tasty and Italian fries very good, but the main dishes were less. Short Rib was more like a pot roast and jumbalya was huge, but not as tasty as it should have been. Waitress was as nice as could be, other... More

We are local and frequently ate here in the past when it was 233 Grill. Our most recent meal will be our last. The Dark and Stormy tasted like , well it had no taste. Sent it back. Heard waitress ask table next to us about their drinks, explaining the usual bartender was not there. Ok. Tenderloin tips were so... More

We have eaten here several times and try to always plan our first and last night's meal here before we fly out. Charming little bar area. We each had a nice glass of wine and have never been disappointed with the meals. My favorite was the clam/pasta dish which they didn't have the last time I was there. One time... More

Stopped in for dinner and had a nice time. The food was great and the waitress was really nice and friendly. Had the butternut squash ravioli which was delicious. The steak was also excellent and cooked perfectly! The wine was fruity and the margarita was very tasty. Will be returning for sure.
