Locals often say the lobster roll at Sprague's is as good as Red's. While I don't agree with that the Haddock dinner is great. Nice area to sit and eat too. Instead of sitting at the tables along Route 1 I suggest you sit on the ones behind the building because then you have a view of the river.

A few moths back we were reviewing lobster rolls for Dispatch Magazine for the Portland area. This weekend on the way to Camden, we stopped at Sprague's hearing the word on the street says Sprague's is the best not only in Wiscasset, but one of the top 5 in Maine. We pulled into the parking lot with very high expectations!... More

On the way up to Camden we stopped at Red's (see my review) and on the way back we thought we'd try Sprague's by way of comparison. It was a blustery noon and the hot cup of chowder and the lobster roll was just the ticket. The chowder was good but heavy on the potato and light on the seafood.... More

It was too early for Red's, so I went across the street to Sprague's. I had a baked haddock sandwich with clam chowder. The sandwich was obviously just made, and it was superb. The chowder was excellent even if it wasn't as "creamy" as I expected. All in all, it was a memorable meal. With ample parking and outdoor tables,... More

LIke others we didn't want to queue over the road but unlike others didn't know Reds was very hyped and a must do. As a result we can be very objective. As we didn't eat at Reds we can't compare quality or value but for a quick fish and chip lunch Spragues was good. Plenty of seating, good service( 5mins?)... More

Had dinner here as there were long lines at red's Eats. My husband's lobster roll was Ok, I had the fish and chips ... the fish was dry and a couple of pieces were overcooked. Will not return here. Now I realize why Red's has the long lines and this place has no line up.

expected true fish and chips, what was served was definitely processed fish stick like as all the pieces were identical in size. I have never seen that before

As noted elsewhere, the lines at Red's are crazy. Hype makes them. Cross the street for rolls of pure lobster ( no mayo ) or other items from a big menu. There was no line, picnic seating, and a great view of the lake. The price was midway between $10 (Vinalhaven) and near $20 (Bar Harbor). I can't see why... More

My husband and I did a road trip up the East Coast. We're from the Mid West and our goal was to eat as much fresh seafood as possible. As we were heading to Booth Bay Harbor we found this roadside GEM!! Adorable little dock on the side of the road and side of the Bay. We got one lobster... More
