Best place to eat in Wells

The food is outstanding, presentation is excellent, service is attentive. They grow much of what they serve. Good wine list, fair prices. Make reservations early--especially during tourist season. Can get noisy, but there are several separate rooms..

Dining at Joshua's is a treat year round. Although I strongly recommend reservations as it is a very popular spot. They have a small bar with a few tables that don't require reservations. Every meal I have had there was absolutely wonderful. During the summer they have a huge garden out back that provides fresh ingredients included in most dishes.... More

Called ahead same day for reservation. Joshua's dad said they were booked but the bar seats were not reserved. We arrived soon after they opened at 5 and they'd just had a cancellation. Seated at a table next to window which was great as enjoying all the light we can get after this long winter. Waitress was very helpful and... More

Dined here in the middle of winter, and it was a full house! The food is great, the ambiance is great, the wait staff is great. I tried the homemade sorbet with honey and clove...a side of dark chocolate and homemade whipped cream...... absolutely worth going back for! The sole and the duck aren't too bad, either! You should make... More

It was Christmas Eve and we hadn't made dinner plans. With no reservations we took our chances. We arrived around 7:30 pm and were greeted by Joshua's parents. The only table available was in the bar. The bar on Christmas Eve? It was the best place to be!!! The room was intimate with pretty twinkling lights. It had a cozy,... More

Deciding to travel to Maine after the 'season', we elected to spend a week in Southern Maine after Labor Day this past year. Lobsters are wonderful, but after several 2 1/2-3 pounders over several days we decided to find a more "rustic elegance". And boy, did we indeed. Joshua's is an older house set back from a country road, colonial... More

I have been to Joshua's several times and it is consistently delicious. I wasn't sure what to expect the first time I went but this charming home is cozy and romantic. Joshua's has a garden where they grow their own vegetables and fruit. The food is ALWAYS fresh. It is rare for a restaurant these days to offer such fresh... More

Lets face it, on a cold winter's night there is nothing better than a farmhouse with a roaring fire and a good chef in the kitchen. There's that and more at Joshua's. From the minute we entered until we left there was warm and efficient service. Our seating area was relaxed and pleasant and the noise level low, and the... More

We eat at this restaurant at least twice a year. It's not close enough to our home to eat there more often but we would if we could. The food is well prepared and the specials vary with the seasons. The goose liver pate' is excellent as a starter. The salads are fresh and tasty. They bake their own bread... More

We have visited the Wels/Ogunquit Towns of Southern Maine for the last twelve years and have enjoyed the food at Joshua's many times. We arrived for our 6:15 pm reservation on time last September 2014 and were seated timely. However, something seemed differnt from our last experiences. We waited over fifteen minutes before our server noticed we were there. We... More
