we stopped based on the fact that diners/drive ins & dives had done a story on them. I ordered the lobster casserole - one of the things they are supposed to be famous for. tasted like lobster covered w/ bread crumbs & oil. $23 ? it was worse than bad. sorry we stopped there. our waitress had too many tables.... Ok. So I was a bit cranky about my previous review of the beloved Maine Diner. So I am humbly retracting my persnickety review and giving the Maine Diner the kudos it deserves from my latest visit. Breakfast is a must do here. Enough food to satisfy, and they grow their own veggies which makes a huge difference in whatever... More

We arrived here at 8am on a Friday morning for breakfast. Although the place was busy, we had to wait only about 15 minutes - there is ample seating outside for those waiting. Once inside we were seated (6 of us) at a booth with an extra table and were immediately attended to by our waitress. The coffee was plentiful... More

We had a very good lunch experience at the Maine Diner. We sought out the diner on our way to Portland after seeing it on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. We didn't have to wait that long for a table, about 10 minutes or so. The split pea soup was really tasty. I ordered the lobster Benedict, which was pretty good.... More

Read about this diner in the Maine Tourist Guide so decided this would be our 1st stop in Maine (our first time in Maine). Cute place just as I expected. Got the Lobster Pie & Lobster Roll ($38) "to go" and drove our motorhome to the Kennebunkport beach (10" drive) and had a picnic on the beach. Could have eaten... More

I guess I am in the minority because I didn't think the food was that great and the service was horrible. The waitress wasn't organized and didn't pay attention to who sat first. We ended up waiting 20 minutes just to get a food order while others sat after us and had food way before we did. Didn't live up... More

Guy Fieri got it right- It was awesome!!!! Service was awesome. Our waitress made us feel very welcome and made sure we were all enjoying our food. The Lobster Pie was to die for. Clam cakes cooked to perfection! The seafood chowder had big chucks of Lobster, scallops and shrimp in it! They give generous portions. We couldn't finish it... More

The place was super busy. We sat at the counter. Of course we drove from springfield mo to go because of diners and dives. Well we had the "famous" lobster pie, it was ok not for$30. It seemed like chunks of lobster, butter and panko baked that's it. The seafood chowder was good. Thin base. The codfish cakes not good... More

We've gone here for breakfast when in the area for years. The blueberry pancakes are huge & filling. I've also had the lobster quiche on special occasions- it's small but satisfying when eaten with a blueberry pancake.
