I travel a great deal for work. I like to think I know good diner food when I taste it. This isn't it. I tried both dinner and breakfast. For dinner I had chicken pot pie and baked beans. It was pretty good. The wait staff was what I found unpleasant. They were curt at best. What ever you do,... more

I visit diners all the time all over New England. To me a diner is enormous portions, homecooked and at a reasonable price. This place fails. The portions are skimpy and not all that tasty. Everything is so bland. I was surprised to see that what most typical diners offer on their menus are only a "special of the day"... more

Although the dish looks small you get a lot of lobster in big chunks with excellent sides as well. Great, simple atmosphere with good service. Lobster stew is the best dish on the menu. more

If you are looking for true Maine dining experience that is moderately to low priced, you must go to the Maine Diner in Wells Main. A short ride up Rt 1 from Ogunquit, it is not out of the way at all and along that route, you also have The Sweatshirt Outlet and Home Outlet and quaint Maine shopping spots.... more

Food is overrated and bland...but the service was friendly...nice diner ambiance....was so disappointed in the insanely overpriced "award winning" chowder...which can best be described as watered down gruel....that I did not feel much like sampling their "award-winning" blueberry pie...:)................bland potato salad......and everything else tasted like it wasnt fresh and/or came from a can............not worth the hype....but would be willing to... more

In season, you may have to wait for a table, but you'll be glad you did. The menu is full of options including full breakfasts, all kinds of sandwiches, up to excellent lobster pie and filling dinners. As mentioned, the lobster pie was reported by my partner to be excellent. Being allergic to shellfish, I ordered the Yankee pot roast... more

The first place I go to when I hit the town of wells, after our long 9 hour drive home,is the Maine diner!!The Lobstah pot pie, is my favorite and to watch theTV as you wait for your table, one can see just how it is made!! After 20 years of back and forth,to the sea,the Maine diner is always a stop... more

Yeah, folks, it's "just diner food" - but there are those of us who prefer that to haute cuisine. It's comfort food at its best. What we had here (lobster pie, turkey, mac and cheese) was the best food we had in three days in Maine, even tho the lobster, lobster rolls, steaks and Italian cuisine were very good. This... more

I'm surprised to read some bland or negative comments about the Maine Diner because we thoroughly enjoyed dinner with our grandchildren here. It was delightful to have such a variety of choices and the menu was so reasonably priced that we could let them chose from the regular rather than just the kiddy menu. My husband said the chicken pot... more

The Maine Diner does have a low priced menu for several items, especially for a restaurant in a tourist area. I recommend the diner for families, and I recommend the diner for those that want to go to say they have been. Also, great for those on a budget! But, in reality you get what you pay for. Do I... more
