My husband and I went to Varano's for our anniversary in October and during Columbus Day Weekend. This is a very busy weekend in Maine, but the restaurant has plenty of room and we did not wait. We had an antipasto for an appetizer, It was a perfect size. I had a seafood dish and my husband had chicken Marsala,... More

The food is good quality Italian, it's just a bit overpriced. If you stay at Misty Harbor during the offseason, they offer packages that include $30 gift certificates to Varano's (as well as three other restaurants located nearby), so after just a couple of stays at Misty, Varano's become free. Figure that dinner for two though, will cost you $60... More

We went to Varano's on a wet rainy Thursday this past week when we were visiting Maine and it was wonderful. My daughter and granddaughter and I were seated in front of the huge roaring fireplace, had a fantastic meal and excellent service. We will always have Varano's as one of our favorite restaurant's when we visit Maine!!

My husband and I found Varano's through a hotel package years ago and have been going back every chance we get when vacationing in the area ever since. The waitstaff is professional and takes time with each and every customer. They are knowledgable about the vast wine selection and have always steered us to a great bottle to accompany our... More

Having been to Maine several times in the last year I was looking for a different restaurant. Well I certainly found it . I felt like I was in a restaurant in Little Italy. Fresh bread that you are tempted to just keep eating and eating with fresh oil and parmesean . The appetizers were distinct and unique. The clams... More

We have eaten here MANY times and LOVE this restaurant. Don't worry is you have to wait. Head to the bar, Charlie is WONDERFUL! The food is always wonderful and the waitstaff is great and very friendly. Certainly eat here on your next visit to Wells.

My husband and I live in Scarborough and we come down to Varano's several times a year to get our fix on real Italian food, something sadly lacking in Southern Maine. My husband is a New York Italian and even he thinks they make great sauce (gravy)! I have food allergies and they are very accommodating to my needs. The... More
