The Bolognese sauce and white clam sauce are both fabulous - note, you can substitute sauces on dinners, such as having the Bolognese sauce on the lasagne. Delish!!! Their bread and dipping oil can be a meal in and of itself. Salads are fresh and dressings are homemade. Save room for dessert, such as the homemade gelatos - an Italian... more

I travel extensively for my job, and recently had the opportunity to dine in the North End of Boston. Although our dinner was satisfactory, it cannot compare to the entrees that I have enjoyed over the years at Varano's. Roger never fails to greet us at the door, and our favorite servers MJ and Lia take great care of us.... more

This is owned by the Varano family. This is one of many restaurants that are either owned or managed by this family. Some how they have gotten rave reviews and we are not sure why. The food ranges from OK to just BAD! For example, we had the Cioppino, Veal Marsala, Linguini w/ Meatballs and Ravioli. My wife said the... more

I am Italian so I know haha. It is a wonderful Italian restaurant. The service is excellent and the waitstaff is very professional and accomodating. I love the Veal Shank and my husband his old standby the Veal Parm. They always have some great specials also. Their Prime Rib on Saturdays nights is probably the best in the area besides... more

Easter weekend 2009--Rose & Randy-Hubbardston, Mass. Always a great place to dine. We frequent Varano"s as often as we can and are always 100% satisfied when we leave. We would never hesitate to bring friends as we have and they have always been impressed. This visit we had MJ for a server and she was excellent-let us take our time and... more

The place was VERY slow because it was the beginning of April. Waitress, excellent. You start with warm, delicious bread served with oil for dipping. We got a salad, balsamic vinaigrette, $3 and wonderful. My husband got veal parmigiana for $20 but the portion was huge. I got lobster fettucini for $28. The lobster was delicious but the sauce on... more

Wells is one of our favorite places in Maine and Varanos is a big reason why. Even if we aren't staying in Wells we go to Varanos, it is that good. The food is excellent and the service is outstanding. We were lucky enough to have MJ wait on us last night and she was professional yet fun. She could... more

Our first visit to Varano's restaurant was absolutely wonderful. It was the best meal my husband and I have had in a long time. We started off with hot bread with a dipping oil, minced garlic and parmesan cheese which was outstanding. We then ordered the Mussels as an apetizer cooked in white wine and minced garlic, delicious. We both... more
