Comfort Food with a Smile

We stopped in for lunch while running errands in town. We were greeted with a smile at the door and then shown to our table. I wanted just a plain burger without all the toppings. We also ordered meatloaf and a turkey cranberry wrap. The food didn't take long to arrive at our table. We all enjoyed... read more

We went for the breakfast buffet, which for 2 of us cost $28!!! Not only was the price crazy, but the food was dry and not the quality I would expect for that price!

Lobster roll - according to my husband - was actually quite good. Desserts (pies, whoopie pies) are huge and worth the money. However, overall - just ok.

Had dinner later in the evening after a 3hr drive. Really nice staff, good food and nice for what we were in the mood for.

Governor's is attached to the Fireside Inn where we were staying. We had both Dinner and Breakfast there. The Philly Steak Sub was very good and the Chicken Tenders were excellent. The chicken is not the frozen, uniform tenders you get in other restaurants, it is real chicken tenders, breaded and fried. Governor's is a nice "comfort" food restaurant and... More

Not great. Started with poutine as an appetizer which tasted like canned gravy. For entrees, had the lobster roll, stuffed haddock, clam basket, and lobster stew. The lobster roll, clam basket, and stuffed haddock were a disappointment. The lobster stew was the best thing we found.

In town for a family event and stayed at the Fireside Inn which is attached to the restaurant. Food is great, desserts have to be split they are so large and have a wide choice of pies and cakes and pastries! We have been eating at Governors for years and are never disappointed. Weekend breakfast buffet has a wide variety... More

Our food order was- chicken and waffles which my daughter said were awesome, my other daughter had the haddock and fries (also awesome) and I had a burger and fries. Our food order too quite some time coming out. We were given... More

Dinner at Governor's was great. The portions were plentiful and the value of the meals was very reasonable. We especially enjoyed watching the train go around the room. Their baked goods were delicious!
