We stopped in tonight for supper and ordered the Fried Clam Basket. What a good decision! The clams were plentiful, lightly battered, extremely tender, and absolutely delicious. We added french fries and cole slaw as our sides...also delicious. The coffee was excellent, as were the homemade rolls. The restaurant has been run by the same family for over 25 years... More

We have traveled up and down the Maine shoreline in search for the best Lobsta rolls in the country. Finally we found a wicked good restaurant. This lob-sta roll was pure lobsta, and no filler. They also put a heaping helping on there for you. FINALLY a restaurant that doesn't make you feel like you overpaid.

Stopped by for lunch and had a great meal with my family in a place that made you feel like part of theirs! Service was great and the blueberry crumble was absolutely amazing. It is a little on the pricey side.

Tried it out on our way to Acadia. Went by again on our way home to Massachusetts. Very good idea, captain. Delicious, fresh and we will be back.

The sign does not lie, the food is wicked good, and so is the service.  From the fresh squeezed lemonade and homemade roll that started us off, straight to the creamy chowder, hot steamed lobster, and sweet corn on the cob....this place. Did not dissapoint! Our waitress was wonderful as was ever bite of our meal. Try the blueberry shortcake... More

We had fabulous lobster stew, lobster rolls and the to-die-for blueberry crumble and homemade blueberry pie and whoopie pie to go! Great food and service! We'll be back!

I stopped in here on a whim. I had no idea what to expect but since I was in Maine, I've got to have lobster, right? Well I ordered the naked lobster roll which comes with extra butter on the side and it was one of the best lobster rolls I have had in a long time! Yummy! As a... More

We're from Boston, and while we're not Lobster roll officials, we enjoy them, and have many favorite spots for them. I will admit I haven't tried Red's Eats, I just can't see myself eating a lobster roll outside,on Rt. 1, esp. after hanging in line for a half hour, so when I read this was supposed to be better than... My wife and I went up to Waldoboro in search for a restaurant we were told had the best lobster roll sandwich - Captains Fresh Idea. We found it a few miles above another Waldoboro landmark - Moody's diner. When we pulled in, it looked like a small restaurant, but they did have some outdoor seating. Inside, it was very... More

Whenever we travel up the Maine coast, I always time it so we get to Waldoboro at lunch time. There is a small restaurant on Route 1 that has the best seafood my wife and I have ever had. The Captain's Fresh Idea is a family owned business where the food is always fresh and prepared perfectly, the service is... More
