Where you'd least expect a restaurant and delit

Set 7 miles off Route 1, this German-style market with a tiny area of tables specializes in homemade sauerkraut, pickles and relish. The restaurant is attached to a wonderful shoppe. From an old world butcher and a selection of meats and sausages you would find in Europe. Morses is know for there sauerkraut and pickles. It has been in business forever. The cheese selection, groceries and candies are extensive. Many samples abound. Enter the small eatery; cozy, ratskellar like in red and... More

Every time I've been to Morse's I've enjoyed their selections of edibles: from unusual mustards, their very good sauerkraut, great sandwiches (eat there or take out), European cookies/cracker selections. They have much more (deli meats, cheeses, etc.). It can be a busy place so call ahead if you want to take out sandwiches.

Great German inspired menu but more gf options would inspire this local to frequent more often! The deli is to die for! So many items that you cannot find outside of Philly or NYC!

For a meal or a deli stop don't miss this out of the way place off Route 1. They have limited seating, but if you can wait the food is delicious. As a vegetarian, I found much to eat and enjoy. The pierogies were fantastic as was the spaetzle. Loved the sauerkraut, cole slaw, and pickled beets, too! My husband... More

Not only is this a lovely little restaurant, it is a fantastic deli. If you like German food then this is a place you must visit. The wide array of choices in cheeses, sausages, and many many more items if wonderful.

The rural Maine location makes this restaurant quite a find. Here you will find a half dozen booths (unfortunately facing the only bathroom), serve yourself pickle jars on the tables, and a menu featuring kraut, sausages, and other German-style foods. We stopped for lunch on the way to the coast and enjoyed reubens, perogies, and an excellent mac and cheese.... More

Spent most of the time waiting to be seated at the restaurant browsing in the adjacent specialty shop. The shop is impressive, but the dining was nothing to write home about. The lengthy wait and very limited seating made the experience less than satisfactory. Restaurant needs to be upsized.

Authentic german food in the heart of Maine that is rather unexpected. We visited Morse's on a rainy day in Maine during our vacation and while this is a great outing to do when the weather is not wholly cooperating, everyone else also had the same idea. We waited over an hour and a half for our table but fortunately... More

My husband and myself had lunch-I ate the Rueben and he ate the Kraut Dogs. Choices of mustards on the table as well as pickles to snack on. The saurkraut is the best I have had. Small restaurant, friendly waitress. Dessert-german chocolate cake-we need to return to try more of their delicious foods. The Deli was amazing-so much to explore.... More
