Worth a stop...

Not a place you'd just stumble across during your travels in Maine, but the different states represented by the cars in the parking area show that it's a destination. Don't expect the same service or products. They are not what they were. The quality seems to have gone down with the new owners. I will not travel to this out of the way location for Morses any longer. The sauerkraut was almost dry and the did not have the red cabbage to go and did not offer to make... More

Set 7 miles off Route 1, this German-style market with a tiny area of tables specializes in homemade sauerkraut, pickles and relish. Definitely worth the ride - especially if you've never had fresh sauerkraut, which varies in taste depending on how long it's been in the brine. We had sandwiches - delicious, though I didn't love the seitan in the... More

The restaurant is attached to a wonderful shoppe. From an old world butcher and a selection of meats and sausages you would find in Europe. Morses is know for there sauerkraut and pickles. It has been in business forever. The cheese selection, groceries and candies are extensive. Many samples abound. Enter the small eatery; cozy, ratskellar like in red and... More

Every time I've been to Morse's I've enjoyed their selections of edibles: from unusual mustards, their very good sauerkraut, great sandwiches (eat there or take out), European cookies/cracker selections. They have much more (deli meats, cheeses, etc.). It can be a busy place so call ahead if you want to take out sandwiches.

Great German inspired menu but more gf options would inspire this local to frequent more often! The deli is to die for! So many items that you cannot find outside of Philly or NYC!

For a meal or a deli stop don't miss this out of the way place off Route 1. They have limited seating, but if you can wait the food is delicious. As a vegetarian, I found much to eat and enjoy. The pierogies were fantastic as was the spaetzle. Loved the sauerkraut, cole slaw, and pickled beets, too! My husband... More

Not only is this a lovely little restaurant, it is a fantastic deli. If you like German food then this is a place you must visit. The wide array of choices in cheeses, sausages, and many many more items if wonderful.

The rural Maine location makes this restaurant quite a find. Here you will find a half dozen booths (unfortunately facing the only bathroom), serve yourself pickle jars on the tables, and a menu featuring kraut, sausages, and other German-style foods. We stopped for lunch on the way to the coast and enjoyed reubens, perogies, and an excellent mac and cheese.... More

Spent most of the time waiting to be seated at the restaurant browsing in the adjacent specialty shop. The shop is impressive, but the dining was nothing to write home about. The lengthy wait and very limited seating made the experience less than satisfactory. Restaurant needs to be upsized.
