Fun lobster dinner

Family of 5 enjoyed lobster dinner in back seating overlooking Carvers Pond. Such a cool and quaint spot! Not the "upscale" type of place but great authentic feel and decor. Food and portions were great for the money. Would go back in a heartbeat. Rich Manheim, PA

I'm just back from four days on Vinalhaven and ate at the Gawker 3 out of 4 days for dinner. The scallops are amazing, the lobster stew is perfection, and the lobster quesadilla was delicious. The portions are very generous and the staff were very nice. It's not fancy but the food is delicious, the view of the pond is... More

While in Maine for a family reunion, we took in some incredible food this week, and the Gawker was right in-line with some incredible Haddock fish sandwiches and seasoned fries. Recommend to anyone who likes seafood.

Had a great lobster dinner here. Place is very friendly. Authentic nautical decor. The whole back wall is glass and overlooks a salt water cove. In a way it is kind of serve yourself- you put in your own order. There is beer and wine. All in all very cool spot. It is a local favorite as well. Place has... More

My friend and I have tried both the lobster roll and lobster taco, and both were very good. The lobster roll was toasted with plenty of chunks of fresh lobster and very little mayo. The lobster taco was served in a soft taco with some spicy Mexican seasoning and a little grated cheese. I love that malt vinegar is included... More

I've been eating at the Gawker since I was child and no visit to the island is complete without a stop here. The menu is plentiful as are the portions and it's BYOB so you really can't go wrong. The views from the dining area are fantastic and the ambiance is unpretentious and comfortable. The fried scallops are always good... More

Unpretentious folksy place overlooking Carver's Pond and the spillway. We ate lunch in late May when it was very quiet and enjoyable. It seemed unchanged in fifty years with very informal atmosphere consistent with out island lifestyle. The lobster was probably living free yesterday and tasted fresh. Tank stored lobster deteriorates taste.

We ate lunch here during a day trip from Rockport. I had the seafood chowder, which was excellent, and the lobster roll. I will tell you that I have never understood why people swoon over lobster. To me, it's just OK (I can take seafood or leave it.) The lobster roll was good, but could have used a touch more... More
