Lunch for our group of 4 on the 19th was just right. The crabmeat rolls were excellent and I really enjoyed my seafood chowder. The onion rings and fries were really good too. A thumbs up on the coffee and the whoopie pie we took home was very good. Excellent friendly counter service and you cannot beat the view of... More

When I was a kid the Harbor Gawker (pronounced 'habba gah-cka') was just a hole in the wall, serving mostly ice cream. Everyone knew everyone. It has obviously expanded into a full sized restaurant - with a VERY casual touch. There are no wait staff. You help yourself at the counter and return your empties to the designated bins. But... Best haddock sandwich we have ever had, ever! Great lobstah rolls, and we loved the french fries! The Seafood Chowder is incredible, You have to bus your own table but the food is so good you don't care! This is an island staple and if you eat there once, you will definitely come back for more!!

My daughter and I moved to Maine last year and were lucky enough to reside in Vinalhaven for several months. Our first restaurant experience on the island was the Harbor Gawker where the owner took the time to come over and with grace and genuine smiles, showed my son how to eat a lobster. During our time on Vinalhaven, this... More

The food here was excellent. Good flavor and unbelievably fresh. The portions were very large. They have an enormous menu. It would take you all summer to try everything. Charming facility with quaint seaside restaurant feel. View of the pond and it's raising and falling tide controlled waters. Casual everything. You order up front and go get your food when... More

Great food! We were there for 4 days this past October and I think we ate here every night! It's literally located right across the road from the Tidewater! We showed up with 20 rowdy people one night and they didn't even blink an eye. They were very welcoming! I recommend the lobster dinner and the lobster stew! Both are... More

Your taste buds will never forgive you if you do not order the crab reuben, one of the most unique sandwiches I've ever had, but amazing. All the other food is solid but rather typical for a lunch spot. Great for a tiny island, however.

We took ferry from Rockland to Vinalhaven on a lovely Sept day. What a wonderful trip. Vinalhaven is a lobstering community with many unique shops. After taking a walking tour we ate at Harbor Gawker. The lobster stew was best I have ever eaten.

Not only was the ferry boat ride over to Vinalhaven an adventure, but the island itself was - quaint lobstering community, many interesting sites on the island. We watched lobsters and fish brought in on the boats and then watched the whole process. Topping things off was a wonderful lunch at The Harbor Gawker. Everyone we met while in Maine... More
