I think that Sweetgrass is the most interesting distillery that I have visited. They have a wide range of products from fruit wines to sweeter spirits to dry spirits. For me, the dry spirits are their strength, but all of the products I tasted were well done. The gin is wonderful. Very smooth with a complex nose. You get a... More

We sampled several of their distilled spirits, but none of the wine. The cranberry smash was the hands down favorite of the bunch. Much more tart and less sweet than any of the other cranberry-based drinks of that sort I've tried before. The apple brandy is more of a true brandy, with the strength to prove it. They also have... Very interesting to find a winery and distillery all in one. For just $2.50 per person (with take home glass) you get to try 6 items off their "menu" of offerings. You can have wine, rum, gin, vermouth. It was nice to try things I normally wouldn't have. Having never had vermouth before I really enjoyed the taste, and ended... More

This winery is on a very nice piece of land and has a beautiful view from just outside of the tasting room. The wines are a nice variety of fruit based wines and ports. Didn't try the gins, but they have been regarded as some of the best and written up in many magazines. The great surprise was the vanilla.... More

Very pretty area & drive. For $5 you get to try any 6 wines or spirits, plus the glass is yours to take. Loved the cranberry apple wine & the cranberry smash. Don't know why this place is listed under restaurants because it isn't one.

Such a fun winery visit. Located on a rural road, with no chance you will ever just stumble across it, use your GPS to guide you to this farm building at the end of the road. We are very glad we did. The quaint tasting room is an unfinished barn with only a bar, a few display counters/shelves for their... More

I have been vising Sweetgrass almost every year since they opened. The growth in products, variety, and quality has been wonderful to see, as has the growth of the customer base. Whether you are interested in wines or spirits, especially the Black River Gin, this is a place you don't want to miss.

Very interesting winery visit. Besides some very well made wines and the award winning gin they have aromatic cocktail bitters-a blueberry and a cranberry. They also have vanilla made using the winery distilled brandy. As members of the American Wine Society, we are pretty good judges of wine and for us the apple was outstanding. That said, we also purchased... More

Their products are first rate! I never thought I would like any of them, but I loved them and bought one of each.

Having passed the Sweetgrass Winery without tasting, we stopped in and discovered a real treat in Maine. For only $2.50 that includes the glass, we were able to choose six tastings from among six wines, five ports and two gins and a brandy. My taste runs to heavy dry red wine so I was prepared for over-sweet cloying wines. I... More
