Worth the trip

It takes a little finding but it is worth the effort. The winery has expanded since I was there last and there is an attractive tasting and sales room. There is a small charge for the tasting but it is well worth it. The Maple Smash and the Apple Brandy are noteworthy. They also offer a vanilla... read more

First, I feel obligated to say that I live two miles from Sweetgrass; Keith and Constance are friends and our daughters attended school together. However, Back River Gin is truly exceptional - literally one of the best in the world. I was never a gin drinker but I keep a bottle of Back River in the freezer at all times.... More

We stumbled across this distillery on 324 Fore Street in Portland Maine. I think it is fairly new and we decided to try the Gin. It was so flavorful with fruit overtones and crisp and a lot of other flavors you can't really put your finger on. This gin is great with tonic and lime but equally delicious just poured... More

Go do a tasting, beautiful small set up and the gin and home made "smashes" are exceptional. Beautiful place.

We visited Sweetgrass for their "after 5 tour". Our group expected the "normal" private tasting experience, that is, a cheese and chocolate plate paired with appropriate wines. This was anything but that. We arrived at 6 and were greeted by Constance and Keith. We were given a tasting of our choice of their blueberry wines. We then began our tour... More

We visit Sweetgrass to refurbish our supply of wines and liquors. There are so many good products, not sure which ones to mention. My favorite is probably Three Crow Rum, however, their gin is excellent as are their wines. I enjoy their smoked blueberry and their cranberry smash. For a small fee, you can sample a variety of wines and... More

Wine tasting quite reasonable *and each taster gets to keep the wine glass). I've purchased several wines but haven't purchased any of their renowned spirits or vanilla. A good place to visit.

Great gin and bourbon that will be ready in a while. Great space with lots of Maine made products! Beautiful setting and lots of outdoor space for a picnic; weather permitting! It is Maine after all!

Stopped at the Portland location for a tasting. Very curious about their products. Turns out we were not fans of their wines or spirits. Which was okay, since it's a taste thing. Our big disappointment was our server. Just pouring does NOT make for a good experience. No explanation of the wines or any background whatsoever. Someone should look into... More

This was the first stop of our fall wine tour in Maine and this place far exceeded our expectations. A charismatic distillery with great tasting wines and gin. I called one day prior to alert them that we were celebrating my girlfriend's 30th birthday and they were sure to personalize our tasting and make her feel very special. A hidden... More
