Best lobster pound in Maine

I have been to many lobster pounds and this is the best buy far. The lobster is the freshest and sweetest you will ever have. And the clams are the cleanest I have ever had. The staff is the friendliest you will find. Not fancy but the best at what they do!!!

Here, you get lobster for $9.95/lb. We had two lobsters at near 2 lbs each, with chowder and cole slaw. The lobster was a bit tough (it's size?) but still good. The chowder was watery with too many large chunks of potato, and the cole slaw was basically just cabbage. I don't like overly wet slaw either, but guys, put... More

This place was bustling and I did not want to wrestle with a whole lobster so I ordered the lobster sandwich. The bread was great and it was fine until one bite halfway through the sandwich that was very, umm, fishy, to say the least. We left.

I don't know that I've ever see so many lobsters together at one time. They have a large cooler that stays filled with live lobster. They're constantly pulling lobsters for take out and on-site cooking. Outside are six wood fired stoves with lobster pots constantly cooking. I could have stayed a couple of hours just watching the operation. Route 3... More

My husband and I went to this restaurant. We picked the alive lobsters from the tank and they prepare your lobster. The lobsters are cook in pots heated by wood. So, the taste is wonderful!

The lobsters were good, no question. But my husband had a ton of roe in his, and he's a curious kind of guy, so he started asking the owner (or manager?) questions just out of curiosity about at what stage can they tell a lobster has eggs, the rules for throwing them back, notching the tails, etc. My husband is... We come to this lobster pound each time we come to Bar Harbor. If you're looking for the best lobsters, this is the place. They have the best lobsters with the best price. This place is very casual. There is no wait staff, but they have a good method to their service. You walk in, place your order for lobsters,... More
