Average food in nice environment with windows that look out on the harbor. Very average service. Too many tourists?

We've eaten at the Fisherman's Friend every year since 1984 and have always had a great meal. The location is beautiful situated on the scenic Stonington waterfront. We ate there on July 15, 2014 and received excellent service by our waitress, Regyn. Two extremely generous portions of fish and chips plus outstanding homemade onion rings. Life is good!

This waterside restaurant is not a close destination unless you are staying on Deer Isle, but we made the 2 hr drive from Camden just to eat here. The atmosphere is casual, service friendly and prompt, and the lobster roll was perfect. Meat fresh, and as tasty as it gets! The onion rings deserve mention as they are the best... More

I went for grilled lobster, and it was delicious. The menu offers many choices. The setting isn't great (a side road to the dock), but the service was excellent - very cheerful and helpful waitresses and waiters.

Bill and I have been coming to the beautiful Deer Isle for 29 years. The island is precious beyond words. One staple of our annual visit is the Fisherman's Friend. It is what the name implies...a place to go where you feel comfortable and welcomed. The menu is diverse. My husband loves their lobster or prime rib. My favorite is... More

We couldn't leave Maine without having lobster. This was a great place to have it. We watched lobster boats returning from the sea to deliver the days catch while we ate lobster at a family friendly location. The wait staff was friendly and unpretentious. The food was great and the portions were large!

Pretty typical pub type food. Service was good and food was fine. It is pretty much what one would expect of pub food place.

This is an excellent restaurant. My husband, son and I ate here on Sunday, July 6 right when they opened at 11 on our way to Deer Isle. The crab roll I had was superb along with blueberry pie to finish off the meal. Wonderful view while sitting on the outside deck, and we couldn't have had a nicer, more... More

We have been dining at the Fisherman's Friend when visiting Deer Isle/Stonington since 1981. Don't miss out, whether it be a seafood-fix you require, or a generous cut of Prime Rib, you won't be disappointed. Stonington is a working fishing port, and the views from the restaurant as the sun goes down and the fishermen land their catch are a... More

We LOVED this restaurant: excellent food, superb service, wonderful views, nice deck. The chowder was the best we had in eight days in NE. The haddock was a generous portion in a wonderful sauce. And the blue cheese dressing alone to go back for. The service by Vinnie was above approach - he was attentive, knowledgeable, friendly, and fun. One... More
