The menu is extensive. Something for everyone at reasonable prices. Desserts are scrumptious! A must on every visit.

This is a little different than most restaurants in the area. The Xanathus restaurant is in one of the older small hotels. It is a little nicer, a little more expensive, and with a dress code (but only requres shirt with a collar and long pants for men). I think the menu is updated daily. I had na icely prepare... More

Perfect dining experience. Million dollar view, exquisitely appointed dining room, delicious meals chosen from very reasonably priced pre fix menu and attentive service. Couldn't be beat. Oh, and Mel Torme crooning softly in the background

The food can be very good to excellent. Sometimes something stays on the menu and shouldn't--the octopus was excellent in July and tough and stringy in August. The soups and salads are well-priced and very good. Mains are large and very good to excellent.

I had been ready to really enjoy dinner at The Claremont. Sadly, it was not to be. The setting is wonderful and the grounds meticulously maintained. But the public spaces in the hotel (we were not staying there; just there for dinner) were surprisingly shabby and drab. After being seated in the half-full dining room, it took a surprisingly long... More

We had originally planned to eat elsewhere but had not made reservation and were turned away (did not expect this on an Wed evening after Labor day. We used TripAdvisor to locate another place in Southwest Harbor and decided on this one. We were glad we did as the original place was crowed and loud. The view was outstanding and... More

The Claremont is a step back in time..I cannot help but think of "The Great Gatsby". The wood paneled foyer with the small reception desk has an air of history seeping from the walls, furniture, photos of a previous age & books. I can highly recommend the elegant brunch (not exclusive to hotel guests) and the casual brunch & afternoon... More

Friendly people and good service. Great place to pull into on a boat for drinks or dinner/lunch. A great old hotel with a lot of history.
