The Claremont is a step back in time..I cannot help but think of "The Great Gatsby". The wood paneled foyer with the small reception desk has an air of history seeping from the walls, furniture, photos of a previous age & books. I can highly recommend the elegant brunch (not exclusive to hotel guests) and the casual brunch & afternoon... More

Friendly people and good service. Great place to pull into on a boat for drinks or dinner/lunch. A great old hotel with a lot of history.

Recently renovated bar at the dock is great. Do get the onion dip with some chips. Our children liked the croquet while had our drinks. The dining room is blend of old world and contemporary. Very quite and a little formal. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the prices on the menu. Good value when compared to other offerings... More

We came by just to see this historic building, wandered down to the pier and had the most wonderful cheese and fruit plate - really!!! Service was exquisite. The croquet lawn was being manicured; so we asked about it. We were encouraged to play - they spend about 2 hours/day maintaining the three courses. From the sides of the courts... More

Absolutely amazing food at the Xanthus - we had the swordfish, the lamb, an appetizer, and a dessert, along with a lovely bottle of wine and the tab was around $150. Aside from the food, it is also worth a stop for the view and to see the old hotel. It is a bit like stepping back in time to... More

Xanthus is the name of the restaurant - it is located in the Claremont hotel. Watch for the sign as neither are visible from the road. When we go, we make sure to allow time to walk down to the boathouse bar and have a drink prior to dinner. They were just finishing up the remodel the night we ate... More

We had a great dinner and a nice lunch here and were delighted. The combination of foods were unexpected but fit together perfectly and my swordfish was the best I have ever tasted. Service was attentive and helpful and we had a great experience.

This restaurant at the Claremont is named Xanthus. Couldn't find it listed that way on Trip Advisor. This is a first class restaurant: quiet, attentive, wonderful view, and excellent food - both in taste and presentation. Our servicer, Liz, was terrific. The manager/hostess? also checked on us a few times to make sure all was to our liking. Beautiful! Interesting... More

Only had a chance to enjoy the breakfast. Very nice offerings and delightful staff. They even boxed up a breakfast for us before our early Kayak tour.

Restaurant with great food and wonderful ambience. Extensive wine list at reasonable prices. Be sure to walk through the Inn and visit the porch overlooking the water. A little hard to find so watch for the signs
