It was so cool to stumble upon this authentic Mexican restaurant in Southwest Harbor while taking a walk. We decided to detour and grab a drink, but the place was completely reserved, including the bar! The did manage to let us squeeze in a margarita and they were great. The restaurant owners spend their winters in San Miguel de Allende and come back with all the spices and know-how to create authentic Mexican dishes, much better than any we have found in the DC area. The Margarita Especial is worth the splurge. The marinated mushrooms and avacado soup are wonderful appetizers. For the main course, the mole chicken thighs... More

We always have to enjoy a dinner at the XYZ to celebrate a great summer! We head there first thing when we arrive and the last dinner out before we leave MDI. I like to start and end the summer with the Camarones Ajillo (vera Cruz). The remainder of the summer its try various dishes. All excellent! Our choice for... More

Don't try to come here without reservations, you most likely will not get in. Small amount of seating available, and even more limited parking here, but it adds to the charm of an intimate little out of the way family run restaurant that guarantees no crowds. Menu choices are also limited, and not inexpensive, but the food and service are... More

It's seems a mystery that Southwest Harbor and MDI have such a Mexican gem. No Tex Mex here, but an interesting and delightful real Mexican menu. It's hard to pick highlights since you can't go wrong, period. But the queso fundido is very popular and tasty. The 7-chile chili will burn most taste buds, but we can't not order it!... More

Off the beaten track, this Mexican restaurant offers a contrast to the plentiful Lobster dinners available in this lovely area. But, it is pricey. We just added up the cost of two Margaritas and two desserts =$32. Add to that a couple of appetizers, and one entree, the bill was just under $100. This is a very pricey casual restaurant,... More

The food is good, and pricey, but the dinning area is hot on hot days and on the loud side. I would have enjoyed the food better in a quieter environment.

Four of us dined on a Wednesday eve in August, though we had to call three days ahead to get a 6:30 reservation. Everyone was happy with their beer/wine/margaritas (though the first house margarita was a tad watery--but that was the only issue in an otherwise perfect meal). Beware, both salsas may be rather spicy--both are delicious, however, and it's... More

First time visit today, had to reserve a table due to its popularity. Upon sitting at our table, we were served "Bread" of all things and two extremely small dishes with two types of salsa which we were supposed to be usesd as a "spiciness" meter prior to ordering our entrees. Our table ordered Mole poblano with chicken and camarones... More

For truly authentic Mexican cuisine in Maine of all places, this is the place! Delicious mole sauces, efficient, attentive service. Wish I could eat here regularly.
