Breakfast for the common good!

We had breakfast here on our recent trip to Southwest Harbor. They offer delicious popovers and oatmeal by donation and all the money collected funds the winter soup kitchen. They even offer entertainment. The people are friendly and welcoming. Enjoy the food and give generously! Everyone wins!

Breakfasters help themselves to an endless supply of freshly made popovers and/or oatmeal. The fresh-out-of-the-oven, eggy, popovers are browned on the outside, hollow in the middle and served with butter, honey butter or maple butter. The oatmeal is the smooth kind, upon which one may put any combination of milk, half-and-half, raisons, walnuts and, maple syrup. A choice of juices,... More

maine can be bleak in the winter, and a stretch for some all year. Right in the middle of summer tourist filled southwest harbor is the common good kitchen cafe where, for a donation you can have a bowl of oatmeal, a decent cup of coffee and a delicious popover that rivals the famous Jordan pond in Acadia park. A... More

My family is popover obsessed and have been planning our trip to the Jordan Pond house when we found Common Good. Fantastic popovers, outdoor seating and friendly volunteers all for the better of the community. Brings a smile to my face every time I think of them. My only suggestion: lose the grape jelly it takes away from those wonderful... More

Until 11:30 am you can visit this establishment on a side street near the post office. Larry and his crew will provide you with a delightful breakfast/snack/brunch; the popovers are literally hot out of the oven and onto your plate. Eat here and help out a great charity! Free wi-fi is a bonus.

We stumbled upon this place while looking for a place to eat breakfast one morning. Their new location in Southwest Harbor, ME is a quaint outdoor area. Brightly colored umbrellas, friendly people, music, hot oatmeal, wicked good coffee, and the creme dela creme - hot out of the oven pop overs and homemade blueberry jam. They also serve fresh fruit.... More

We had a wonderful breakfast here and plan to return several times before leaving. All donations go to the community soup kitchen in the winter months. Very friendly service. Oatmeal served with nuts, raisins, butter, cream and sugar to add in as you wish. Popovers like I used to make at home. So very good! Stop in for the best... More

the popovers, homemade blueberry jam and walnut butter was the best in the world. I went for the first time on a Sunday morning. People were playing music and everyone was singing along. It's technically free but there is a donation box for charity to give what you can. It had such a feel good vibe I returned almost daily.... More

If you are near Southwest Harbor in Maine stop in between 7:30-11:30 for popovers with blueberry jam or maple walnut butter and support a great cause. This is donation only and supports a winter soup kitchen. They just opened in a new location in downtown southwest harbor next to the post office.

We happened upon this cafe during our summer trip a couple years ago and made sure it was planned daily for our fall trip as well. Fresh made popovers throughout the morning, old fashion oatmeal with many fixings, coffee, juices, hot chocolate, tea, milk, and much more all UNLIMITED and BY DONATION. The café is open daily 7:30am to 11:30am... More
