We took a chance and walked by on a Friday night, the place was busy but we managed to get a seat at the kitchen bar where we enjoyed an excellent meal while watching Carlos work his magic. This is a great little neighborhood spot that offers quality food served well in a casual friendly atmosphere. For what you get... More

The restaurant is small,so call for a reservation. The staff was very friendly & came around often. The fish was delicious, i had the haddock & my husband has the salmon, so fresh, it melted in your mouth. A great restaurant.

This is a lovely spot in South Portland with only 24 seats and a truly knowledgeable wait staff. Food is inventive and luscious, a fest for eyes and palette. We began with the cheese plate and then had duck toast and scallops for appetizers, with a filet and scallops as entrees. The cheese plate was beautiful and delicate, a great... More

After reading glowing reviews of this restaurant we made reservations for a Tuesday evening. The food was delicious, and the wine was superb. However, my husband, who has a healthy appetite, wished the portions had been larger. The desserts, Key lime pie and pecan tartlet were fantastic! It's a cozy place and the service was excellent. Parking is easy. Bring... More

This is my favorite restaurant! The food is always exquisite. Cozy little out of the way place. You'll be glad you took the trouble to find David's 388. We go a couple of times a year. This time we were seated at a counter overlooking the chefs work their magic. It was really fun to see them create such fabulous... More

We had been wanting to try David's 388 and finally made it recently. I had the spinach salad with goat cheese and almonds. It was fresh with just the right amount of dressing. Several of our group of 5 had the pasta with mushrooms-- what a great dish! The cherry cocktail and service were excellent, too Also, the prices were... More

This is a place we will definitely return to when in the area. We came here with relatives that live locally after eating at David's in Portland proper the night before. This restaurant far exceeded it's downtown sister. Portions were perfectly sized and prep was excellent. Arugula salad was crisp and very fresh, sirloin special was amazing and prices were... More

I ate here with friends after not dining here for over a year. I can't imagine what took me so long to return!. This is a lovely, cozy restaurant, and the food and wine selection is very good. I will definitely be eating here more often. It is a busy restaurant even on week nights, so reservations are recommended. The... More

After reading about this restaurant in the newspaper, we gave it a try. What a surprise! The unpretentious entrance gave way to a delightfully cozy atmosphere, followed by a warm welcome and surprisingly delicious food. On a Wednesday evening, the place was packed and buzzing. Feeling immediately at home, we selected several items from an eclectic, locavore menu. As treats... More
