Love the small plates, great food

Great sized portions (not huge) and priced appropriately so you can try different foods without trying to navigate enormous portions. Food was great as were wine prices. Recommend highly. Dessert was perfect - I had the apple tart tatin with ginger and cinnamon icecream. Amazing. Most place... read more

We dropped in on a Friday night without a reservation. However we got a seat at the bar it was probably better than having a table. Service was excellent, with Sasha a real star moving seamlessly from bartender to waitress to kitchen support ! Food was excellent and served quickly. Would recommend without hesitation.

I hesitate to tell anyone about this restaurant because we can almost always get a table when we want but I must give David's 388 its due. Interesting small plates, starters entrees and desserts. Just luck up the menu for details. We come here ever year. This year we brought 2 new foodies with us. With 6 people ordering 4... More

This was our first dinner here in Portland and I would not be surprised if it's our best meal! We tried lobster mac & cheese, lobster bisque, arugula salad (best salad ever!), romaine salad (nothing special), salmon, filet mignon, pecan choc tart. Everything was fresh and very tasty ( minus the romaine salad). This is a wonderful restaurant.

Small restaurant, with open kitchen and bar seating in addition to tables. Reservations are a must, with people being turned away on a Monday evening. Great presentation of food, creative entrees, very knowledgeable waitstaff that will steer you toward great choices. South Portland location has easy street parking, making it a good choice. Desserts are to die for so leave... More

The beef Carpaccio was one of the best we have had, they grill the capers and it makes a wonderful taste and the use Kosher salt so the flavor pops. The duck canapé was very good. We tried the grilled Romaine salad but it came out cold and would not recommend it. The main entrees were excellent, the pepper Tuna... More

Don't really want any more people to find out about this neighborhood gem. David's SoPo treasure is already busy enough. Outstanding, interesting food. Portions are modest, perfect for foodies who like to sample different things. Even the burger is gourmet!

We were sat at the "Chef's table" which is a bar counter overlooking the kitchen. In my opinion (if you're not on a romantic date) this is a great place to sit because you can watch all the delicious foods being prepared and served and use that to choose your meal. We were told they change the menu seasonally, so... More

We were very impressed by our first visit to David's 338. The menu is creative, ingredients are very good, the atmosphere in this small restaurant is very attractive, and the service is great.

Pleasant surprise in a local South Portland neighborhood. The food and service was excellent. Small neighborhood dining. One needs reservation as it has limited seating. The two males had the filet mignonette cooked exactly as requested. The two females had the duck. Limited, but excellent quality section of entrees. Highly recommend this restaurant.
