My sister and I called today, July 19, to make a reservation for lunch. The person answering the phone said they didn't take reservations for lunch but said 2:30 was a good time to come by and get a water view table. We arrived at that time, were then shown to a table on the deck. It was not by... More

Were told they didn't take lunch reservations. My sister and I arrived at 2:30 which was the time the person on the phone suggested we arrive in order to get a good table. We were given a table with no view when we arrived at 2;30. After waiting 15 minutes for someone to take our order we intercepted a waitress... More

Great waterside views. Great service. Good food. Pet friendly. Popular with the vacationers we met. Recommend the fish and chips and clam plate. Unfortunately, they were out of oysters and mussels when we arrived for a 6:30 reservation; indicates a planning glitch somewhere.

We were here over Memorial Day weekend. I ordered the fish tacos and they were so spicy as to be inedible. When I complained to the server, I was not offered a replacement or a complimentary anything. We were a large party of 8 people and one part of the group were locals, so I expected better treatment. Except for... More

My daughter's favorite place to eat when we visit the area. We went for lunch on a Tuesday, and learned that the selection of beer was verily slim. We placed our order for two lobster rolls and two other platters. When the server brought the drinks, she announced that they had "no oyster rolls". This was a deal breaker so... More

The view here is amazing. Watching the boats and birds and the tide come in. The food is pretty good. Not that great, but really not bad. Prices are out of this world expensive. $50 for a bottle of red wine and a fried scallop platter with fries and coleslaw was $22. The wait staff was inexperienced, not ready for... More

4 persons for lunch. Wonderful location. Water on two sides. Oysters as ap. Very good. We all had sanwiches and agreed that they were very good. There is no competition at Christmas Cove. We will return. Very good service.

This is a restaurant on one of the more beautiful and historic small coves in Maine - easily approached by boat (although you will need a reservation for moorings). As a seasonal setting it has a view on its small deck that is incomparable, especially at dusk but in past years the food and service has been sub par. Even... More

Any restaurant that opens for a brief season will have trouble maintaining consistent quality. We have watched the Coveside wax and wane for 30 years. The news for 2013 is good. Two dinners have been marked by friendly and efficient service and good, casual food. If you have access to a boat in Mid Coast Maine this is a great... More

After avoiding the Coveside last year due to negative food reviews, as we drove by, we decided to stop in on Monday 6/16/13 for lunch. It was a gorgeous day. We were promptly seated on the deck. We reviewed the menu and specials and each couple ordered a mug of the creole seafood stew (special soup of the day). I... More
