The seafood was fresh. portion is small even on things like reuben sandwich. The chips was from bag not freshly made. Everything was just okay. For the price, was expecting better but located near Seal Harbor which doesn't have many restaurants.

We stopped in for lunch and I felt a little hesitant at first. The warm welcome from staff quickly made me feel at home! We had the crab cake appetizer, french onion soup, lighthouse burger, and tuna melt. Everything was delicious! Crab cakes were crispy and perfect, portions were good size, and the tuna was the perfect flavor for me... More

This is not a fancy place, but the food was good, service was excellent and friendly. It is a nice convenient location and was surprisingly not busy.

My husband and I had a great dining experience at this restaurant. It's not fancy, but the food was delicious and the prices reasonable compared to other places along the coast. I had the grilled Halibut and he had the linguine with seafood. We were too full for desert. The food was obviously fresh made.

Thank you for your comments. I don't advertise homemade chips because I don't make them, I serve ruffles, in all honesty as much as I like homemade chips myself, I simply don't have time, I am the only cook for 3 shifts, I prep everything myself and most everything I serve is homemade. Although I think it's a great idea... More

I don't really understand the vitriol of some of the reviews for Lighthouse. It is true that this place has been around for a very long time. My parents, who worked at the original Jordan Pond House as high school kids back in the 50's used to come here when it was a soda shop (think milkshakes and drug store... More

I would love to talk with your parents to learn more history of the building. That was before my great Aunt Christia's time here, she had a counter, a few tables to dine and part grocery store, plus the awesome bowling alley below the restaurant for the local league, which is no longer there but what many returning customers comment... Hit the place on the off chance that it would be reasonably priced by Bar Harbor standards. I had the fried Haddock sandwhich. Very good with a large serving. My friend had the Seafood chowder and was very pleased. The waiter, bartender and busboy was very pleasant (same guy).

My wife and I and our 26 year old twin daughters found this restaurant Saturday May 9th, 2015. The décor was typical small town Maine, but enjoyable to look at. The service was excellent. Three of us had lobster stew and one had clam chowder. The portions were perfect the food absolutely delicious. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone... More

Food was good, they had just opened for the season so no patrons. The lady running the restaurant was very pleasant.

I stopped here because it was open and I was hungry and to be frank - I liked the name. I almost turned around at the dated decor but, again, I was hungry so I stuck around. I ended up ordering a burger (not a fan of seafood) and it was delicious and perfect. The service was perfect and while... More

We stopped for lunch on Sunday -- the only place open in town. The decor is quite dated, but things improved from there. Nice friendly server, and good food. We had a crab cake appetizer and claim chowder. The crab cakes were quite good (a 4 out of 5) and the chowder was good but no better (a 3 out... More

I apologize about the rude service, I am shocked by it although I understand. Dale does tend to get more praise than not. I am in the kitchen mostly and am not always aware of all that happens in the front of the house. The dinner menu isn't up yet because I am rewriting it presently, although customers will come in and ask to see the dinner menu. I don't have anything on breakfast, lunch or dinner menu that cost $25 dollars, between the three menus prices range from $2.95 to $21.95. We serve lunch from 11am to 4 pm, I never thought to post the times but I can see a need for that, thank you for the suggestion. I dont mind doing lunch at night, but I separate the lunch from dinner because all the prep involved. We are not a 5 star restaurant, I offer casual comfort dining, to accommodate the variety of guests we have. I am new owner so I am making changes as I can and I will be making many within the next year. I may or may not remove the linen table clothes at night. I do recall you coming in because you asked for lunch and it was after 6 pm, and recall commenting to the "rude" waiter that everything you ordered off the lunch menu is also on the dinner menu, I can not comment on the "bad" food because I don't recall exactly what you had, but think you had appetizers and a kids meal but am not positive, apparently your guest check is missing, as soon as it's found, I may write you personally about the food. I wish I could comment though because if you didn't like something, I'm willing to change recipes, and I certainly would have comp'd your meal if you were that dissatisfied. My goal is to basically fix what's broken, and have positive comments here, I cant make a new page as a new owner for the Lighthouse, because I haven't change the business name, my great Aunt named it so im not willing to change it (yet), so I take all negative feedback as a priority for change. Again I apologize for your horrible experience with us and wish I had known as it occurred. Take care & God bless. Kate
