Just like homemade

We ended up here five years ago as a bit of a fluke and loved it so much we just had to return the next time we found ourselves in Scarborough. Unfortunately, part of what we loved was the singing performance and we didn't realize that singing is only offered on Friday and Saturday evenings when we... read more

Had lunch at Uncle Don's Country Kitchen today. Overall, lunch was so so but 2 things made it worth the visit. (1) Uncle Don and co are all incredibly friendly and came out a few times to see if we were enjoying lunch (2) the clam chowder which was extremely good. It was on lighter side as far as cream... Every time I come to Uncle Don's, I feel like I am coming home. The staff make you feel welcome, and Uncle Don always pays a special visit to your table to make sure everyone is happy. The menu offers a wide range of options, and all the food is great. The desserts are excellent, too! Make sure to stop... More

This was the third year we have been to Uncle Dons while on vacation. Just like the other times, it was great! The food was delicious, everyone in our party of 7 enjoyed their meals. Service was great, but the best part is when Uncle Don comes to the table to be sure you are happy with your food. Great... More

Sweet, sweet spot that is so nostalgic! Knotty pine walls, views of the surrounding marsh, quintessential Maine! Foodies beware - no goat cheese, bone marrow or rabbit liver here! Just good down-home cooking done well. And Uncle Don himself came over and welcomed us!

Expensive diner that uses too much fat. The minestrone soup was good but the baked haddock was too oily, and the braised lamb chunks were bland.

This place has not changed in 50 years. That said, as a place to bring the kids and not worry about upsetting other diners, this place cannot be beat. The fish sandwich was a fresh piece of haddock, nicely cooked, and they do a nice job on the hot dogs, burgers, club sandwiches, etc. this place is inexpensive and unhurried,... More

We were on our way to someplace else last week and turned around to stop at Uncle Don's Spurwink Cafe. The sign said "Established in 1955". So was I, so I figured it must be pretty good. It was the Friday night of Memorial Day weekend, but the restaurant was at about half occupied. We were seated immediately and promptly... More

Stick to a simple menu and cook it well, add excellent service and that describes Uncle Don's. We ate their twice recently and loved it. The seafood pie was really tasty and the chicken pie delicious. The staff are delightful as well and nothing is too much for them, Uncle Don himself visits every table to talk to his customers.... THE best restaurant in Maine (and New England) in my humble opinion. It is like "going home" for dinner (or lunch) The baked haddock dinners are so delicious, but anything and everything served at the Spurwink Kitchen is! Delightful ambience and great service make it my very favorite.
