We were looking for clam chowder. We looked up this restaurant, and read reviews about the tasty seafood chowder that had shrimp, haddock, and scallops in it. And a good review on their onion rings. So, that is what we ordered, and it was very delicious. Some of the best chowder we have had. And, the onion rings were fresh... More

Every time we visit the Portland Maine area we have to stop at Chowderhead's to buy a quart of their awesome fried oysters to treat the family to! There's a small comfortable open seating area but we always order our food to take out. If you've never tried fried oysters do your self a favor and get some here at... More

There are several things served up at this small place that are the best I`ve ever had, namely, the fried scallops, the fried haddock, and the onion rings....All three are covered with the most delicious batter imaginable, and fried to golden perfection...served with the usual fish house coleslaw and tartar sauce, every morsel is delectible,...The fried clams my friend had... I didn't expect my fried fish sandwich and onions to be healthy but I did expect them to be a delicious treat. My sandwich had a disgusting piece of completely brown lettuce on it. It would have been better if they had just left it off. I have know idea why anyone would put something so disgusting on the sandwich.... More

Nice little place to grab a bite of seafood. Nothing fancy but it looked like a great seafood menu with lots of choices. Disappointed they only had one kind of chowder and it was way over priced. Took some home and the container was tiny!

We were shopping in Scarborough and came here because of positive reviews from TripAdvisor. (I have yet to be disappointed). The place would be easy to miss without GPS as it is in a shopping center. It's a simple cafe. You order at the counter and they call your number. I had the lobster roll and husband had the fish... More

You would think that with a name like Chowderheads they would serve more kinds of chowder that "seafood". That being said, my clams were excellent and the seafood chowder was pretty good. Wife's crabmeat roll was good as well.

My husband & I often do take out here for our evening meal, by calling ahead and having the order ready when we arrive, and sometimes we "eat in". My favorite is grilled salmon sandwich, which comes with a choice of coleslaw (huge portion with tasty low fat dressing) or pasta salad. The last time I ordered that, the huge... More

OK so there is no atmosphere, but the place is clean, light, and the food is well-worth the trip. Located in a little strip mall off Route 1 in Scarborough, the location is unpreposessing, but the food is not! I recommend the lobster roll, the crab roll (both served on a croissant!) and especially the fried clams. Chowder is very... More
