We have been going here for the last few summers and my taste buds are much better than my thought waves. Took me a few weeks to get the joke, but only a few seconds to realize what exceptional food Michelle and Michael were producing. The ingredients could not be fresher and give new meaning to the whole local food... More

Something for everyone. We had delicious enchiladas. It is a good thing that they have some things not too spicy but they could make some a bit spicier for folks who like this. Nice folks who are owners are the cooks and they do a great job and are very personable.

We loved El El Frijoles. The lobster burrito was great and so was the crab quesadilla. It could have been a bit spicier, but I like spicy! The tables and screened area are adorable. There's a little slide to keep the kids occupied, too. One suggestion would be to open up a window to take orders so that the inside... More

We've tried to like El El's for years, but every time I go, I'm left feeling....blah, bland....I could've made a tastier burrito at home, even with the salsa bar. Maybe they are trying to accommodate non-spicers and figure adding salsa will satisfy people who like flavor. But when the food isn't seasoned in the cooking process, it just feels flat,... More

Stopped here while doing field work (from UMaine) since I'd been hearing so much about it. Line was out the door when we got there, but they did get all the food orders out quickly. Here are some thoughts: - PLEASE get salsa verde in your salsa bar! - Jalapenos in the burritos would be awesome - The meat is... More

Of the restaurants we visited in the Deer Isle area, El El Frijoles was one of our favorites. Housed in a converted barn, this is more of a take out establishment as there are only nine seats inside and a separate screened dining area outside as well as picnic tables. You order your food at the counter and pick it... More

This is a seasonal stand with a following. Great meal, long lines were worth the wait. The food was fresh, unique and very tasty. The servers were friendly and helpful.

Farm fresh fruits and veggies in the salsa, salads, horchatas, and lobster and crab tacos worth taking the day off vegetarianism for. It's not fancy, it's just really, really good. And the people are really, really nice and totally dedicated to making amazing food. This is my favorite restaurant in Maine. Eat here.

Good food and great ambience. Picnic tables and BYOB. Sandbox and swingset for the kids. This place doesn't pretend to be anything but a place that offers great food. A great place!

We go to Deer Island often and part of the reason is because of this place. The food is amazingly fresh, they use responsibly sourced ingredients and well the people are just so darned nice! Spicy lobster tacos in homemade corn tortillas yum!!! Thanks for doing what you guys do!
