A Tradition

Martel's is a tradition in the area. The opening and closing of the seasons are judged by the the opening and closing of Martel's. A must do if you are on Rt. 1 and have an ice cream attack. Enjoy!

arrived to Martel's at 8:43. They do close at 9, but we were greeted to a couple going out the door and it being pulled shut and LOCKED! The window in the front slid open and the woman who was clearly the boss says "what do you want?" My sarcastic side said "I wanted to come in and get some... More

If you want yummy, homemade ice cream, stop here. Locals know it, summer residents know it, now you too are in on it...Right on Rte. 1. Yes, it's "just" ice cream, but what a treat. DO NOT MISS OUT ON IT...

The ice cream and service Martel's are excellent. One thing to note is they are very generous with their serving sizes. A small here is bigger than a large I have had at other locations.

I dream about this ice cream all winter long, when summer comes it's Martell's for our family! The ice cream here is some of the best I have ever had. It's sweet and creamy with lots of wonderful flavor combinations, they offer a variety of special flavors too! They have something to suit every taste, I love their strawberry ice... More

they have a great product and they are last place around to get orange pineapple. The mini golf is nice too and the best part is the Anti-mosquito measures they have taken!

I've been a regular since moving here two years ago. New flavors show up often and I haven't been disappointed yet. Even the kiddie sizes are pretty large. Important to note: They take cash only.

A friend and I stopped at Martel's for some ice cream. I had heard that the ice cream was really good but I had never stopped. I'm sure happy that I did. There was a great selection to choose from and the prices are reasonable. Sandwiches are also sold here at a reasonable price.

Many reviews note the excellent ice cream, small = large. I recently enjoyed a ham "Italian" sandwich which was excellent. When you are in Maine you should try one, it's the right bread, peppers, oil, and tomatoes (sliced just right). You'll see many places offering "Italians", get one before you leave the state. Mini-golf in rear, $8 adults and discount... More
