We ate a late lunch at the Helm a week before it shut down for the winter and were very pleased. I ordered the fish and chips and the salad bar was so invited I had to get a plate. The salad was very fresh with many choices. The fish and chips were also good. The serving size was generous... More

We actually ate at the Helm twice on our trip....once for lunch and once for dinner. For lunch we had the clam chowder which was delicious and filling. We had noticed a beautiful salad bar but were not hungry enough to try it. The service was good. When we returned for dinner 2 weeks later with the salad bar in... More

Stopped by with 15 people in our group, they quickly set us up in back room. Fun servers, like a diner. Family fare, large portions, good value for the money. Nothing fancy, but just what we were looking for. Attentive service, good food. No one left hungry.

We've always heard that some of the best food is found at the restaurants the local residents frequent. After having eaten at The Helm for many weeks in the summer, we've seen the same customers again and again, as well as tourists. Its main attraction for us is the super salad bar, chock full of a variety of greens, raw... More

This place has everything and all of it was good. We were a party of 9 and had everything from perfectly cooked lobster to a hamburger for the kids. My husband loved his steak au poivre and we also liked their fried shrimp. The best part about the place is the salad bar. All of it was fresh and homemade... More

If you are looking for a really good feed of fried scallops, I could hardly recommend this place. I have lived by the sea my entire life and regularly enjoy a good feed of scallops. I can honestly say I have never seen scallops like these! They were THIN!! They appeared to have been sliced in half horizontally and the... More

My partner and I ate a very good dinner at this restaurant last Saturday night. We immediately felt welcome and the service was friendly and efficient. As for the menu, it had a lot of choice and variety even one hour before closing. We ordered salmon with a pesto coating and the sea food platter. Both were very good and... More
