During our vacation on the Maine Coast, we stopped for lunch at the Helm. We had delicious scallops and a great salad bar for lunch. We enjoyed wine with lunch which was reasonably priced. Are waitress was very helpful regarding the menu and gave us great service. I would definitely recommend for a affordable seafood lunch.

We have eaten at the Helm for year. Usually it is take out. All of there items are always fresh and made to order. From seafood to hot dogs and hamburgers you will always get a fresh meal. They have the best onion rings. Freshlly breaded..

The haddock, both the special and the fried were both beautiful. They have the option of a very good salad bar, but we had vegetables. Not too busy for a Sunday night.

The Helm provided just what we wanted on a rainy night - an informal, friendly setting for a simple dinner at a reasonable price. They offered good seafood, chicken and meat choices, and the accompanying salad bar was fine, even if many selections looked and tasted like they were from cans and plastic bags.

I never understand why some people will " pan " a good restaurant that has good staff obviously trying to provide good service to the general public.... that said, my husband and I enjoyed our lunch at the Helm. I just had the half sandwich and paid a little extra to have clam chowder. I thought the clam chowder was... More

Every time we drove by the parking lot seemed busy. We thought this might be a nice family restaurant. When we stepped into the dimly lit dining room we waited about 5 minutes for someone to come and seat us. The decor was old and tired. The carpet was old and tired. The menu was old and tired. The Salad... More

This is a very comfortable restaurant, especially when you are tired and do not want to fuss with your appearance. It seems to be a favorite with locals. We find the seafood to be very good and they have a large menu with lots of selections. Not sure where the "French" came from but they do seem to have added... More

After a traffic-jammed, six hour road trip to Rockport, my husband and I craved comfort food. We didn't want to eat out of take out boxes and we didn't want to dress up. Our gracious host at the Schooner Bay Motor Inn suggested The Helm restaurant and it was definitely a wonderful dinner recommendation. The Helm's atmosphere is genuine and... More

The outside of the Helm goves the atmosphere of just another restuaurant but don't let the cover fool you. It is lacated in a highly tourist area Maine and may not be as attractive as others from the outside BUT, it is a favorite for locals. Once you step in the atmosphere becomes vey homey (my preference), service is great... More
