Good Food off the beaten path

Simple lunch menu- oysters ere very good and the lobster rolls are authentic! Only small downside is that if you eat outside, you feel like your sitting in a parking lot overlooking a swampy inlet. Having said that, the friendly and fast service, along with the good food, makes up for it.

We went to JJ's on our last day of a wonderful week on the coast. I was so excited to go there after having read the rave reviews. But, oh brother. We had the Fishermen's plate, which had fried haddock, shrimp, and whole belly clams. I'm sorry but it was horrible! Over breaded and greasy. It was our worst meal... More

My wife and I were on our honeymoon, staying in Camden, when we decided that we needed a few things from Walmart. The closest Walmart was in Rockport. On our way we decided to stop for lunch and saw JJ's Snack Shack on Route 1. The food was excellent. We shared the Lobster bites. I had a fried Haddock sandwich... More

I had read about JJ's on Trip Advisor, and I'm so glad I did. They happened to be just up & across the road from where we were staying, so it was convenient to just walk to this great little stand. We enjoyed chatting with the owner while he prepared our lobster roll. He will prepare your lobster roll any... More

Spotted JJ's on Trip advisor, stellar reviews, and it lived up to it reputation. Drove by it before I read about it and thought how quaint. After the reviews I knew I needed to try it. We were staying less than 1/4 mi away but missed dinner Saturday as JJ's closed round 7pm if not busy. We did Sunday lunch,... More

The lobster roll and clam basket were awesome as always... I would bet their clsms are the best on the east coast. The lobster roll was packed full of fresh lobster mmmmm. I will definitely be back for more.

Not as pricey as other places, but a fantastic, chunky lobster roll. We tried a couple of times and found off-season hours a bit sporadic, but once that OPEN sign was lit, we were glad we tried again.

As many have noted, the attitude couldn't be better, owner & dogs. The food was only ok. We got fried shrimp, fries & side of beans; fried whole clams, fries with side of beans. Unfortunately, the beans were the highlight of the meals. They were excellent. The clams were a little overcooked for my taste, the shrimp were not much... More

Saw the reviews and we decided to stop. What an awesome experience. John was terrific at making the first really good lobster roll (I had Red's...just a bunch of cold lobster with butter to pour on top) I had in Maine. He added tomato and lettuce with mayo. THE BEST!! The handmade fries will want you to ask for more and... More

Generous portions, unique flavors cooked to perfection, extensive menus easily 100 or more items! Great personal service, very friendly engaging people, fun atmosphere! Who'd think a "side of the road shack", would be such a gem! I would love to try everything on the menu. Seafood, hotdogs, burgers, Greek food, root beer floats, milkshakes, handmade fries, slaw and tartar sauce!... More
