If you are looking for a fancy place, this is not it. If you are looking for gobs and gobs of great seafood in a funky atmosphere with great service and fun people, Conte's is it. From the moment we entered, picked our offering and sauce, we went to our newspaper covered table and dug in on their great funky... More

You'll be sorry you missed it! A true fish monger, John Conte is a good chef and great host. While short on spoken words, his daily handwritten menu is a masterfully creative but simple depiction of the greatest seafood in town! You enter Conte's for great food, excellent service and a funky delightful decor. Short on seating but quaint and... More

John Conte is an incredible cook and an interesting character! Everything is fresh every day...no freezer or microwave. John sautes incredible seafood and serves it over pasta with one of 4 homemade sauces. Homemade bread and salad is on the table, you pick your meal from the huge chalkboard at the entrance and your drink from a waitress with great... More

Friends brought us here for the first time & since we only live 30 minutes away, we'll be coming here often! This is a rustic, laid-back place. It's not fancy & that's fine by us. Many, not all, of the restaurants on the coast are too expensive & leave you feeling like you were ripped off. Not here. Start with... More

Every year when we visit family in Rockland we try to get over to Conte's 1894 Restaurant. Since the menu is always different, we know we're always in for a surprising and unique treat. Conte's is an experience unto itself. From the moment you step inside and the waitperson rattles off the list of dishes available, also written up on... More

Contes opens at 5 and only cooks until his supply runs out. We got there at 430 and got right in when it opened. The restaurant itself is eclectic and a little strange but the wine portion (2 choices: red and white) are very generous, the bread is delicious, and the food was very good. You chose your protein and... More

If you want the best and freshest seafood you have to go to Conte’s. This is truly an amazing and fun place to come with family and friends. This is our third time in Camden and each year we eat at Conte’s. We will be back. Thank-you for great food and a fun time.

We ordered take-out as we had our dog with us during our trip to Maine. I ordred the lobster, scallops and shrimp while my boyfriend had the haddock and sausage. We waited outside almost an hour before we received our meals, but they gave us an extra meal to compensate for the wait. The lobster, scallops and shrimp was simply... More

Gotta go. Great food and huge portions. Definitely split one order no matter how hungry you are. Lots of choices of fish and sauce combinations and each order is individually prepared so expect to wait a bit. Great wait staff are entertaining and make the wait fly by. Don't be put off by the exterior. Go!
