Is just up the road from the ferry terminal. We had an hour till our ferry on a weekday at noon. So thought we had plenty of time to get a sandwich. The place is chaotic. While there were plenty of staff they all seemed to be getting in each others way and arguing over some order. I ordered a... More

This sandwich shop had been recommended by the hotel staff at the Seawall Motel in South Harbor, so we had to stop by for sandwiches to take on a picnic. They are made fresh so you have to be patient, but the friendly counter staff will chat and there are plenty of people in the kitchen to get you order... More

We ducked into this order-at-the-counter cafe/bakery for a quick sandwich and were more than pleased. Excellent food! And, unlike most similar places, there were several good vegetarian choices. My wife's egg salad sandwich was unusually good, and my veggie burger was exceptional. After the lunch, we picked up a couple of fresh, still-warm chocolate chip cookies to have with coffee... More

The Brown Bag is GREAT!! Gluten Free is amazing, they cook everything separate if you have a food allergy. They also DELIVER for a cheap price of $2 in town and each additional mile out of town is only $1. I totally recommend this place if you have the time. Lunch hour (11-1) can get pretty busy but worth the... More

The Brown Bag is an institution with well-deserved loyalty. The food is fresh and tasty, the staff friendly, and the atmosphere relaxed. The turkey salad sandwich is the best ever, seasoned with fresh tarragon, on home-made bread. The pastries are very good as is the coffee. Why would anyone choose to go to fast food places when they could go... More

Lots of good food, cooked or made to order. Very generous portions. Don't miss it, the sandwiches in particular are wonderful and there are hot meals for lunch as well. Don't waste your time with fast food if you can get to the Brown Bag.

You almost don't notice this hidden gem when driving south on Rt. 1 through Rockland. Huge sandwiches and delicious home made baked goods. Friendly service and low prices make this a no-brainer.

If you're going through the effort to make GF bread & have a GF sandwich option... Don't grill it or prepare it where you make regular sandwiches. Last 2 times I've eaten there I've gotten horribly sick. Won't go back. Better options in Rockland!
