The Brown Bag is an institution with well-deserved loyalty. The food is fresh and tasty, the staff friendly, and the atmosphere relaxed. The turkey salad sandwich is the best ever, seasoned with fresh tarragon, on home-made bread. The pastries are very good as is the coffee. Why would anyone choose to go to fast food places when they could go... More

Lots of good food, cooked or made to order. Very generous portions. Don't miss it, the sandwiches in particular are wonderful and there are hot meals for lunch as well. Don't waste your time with fast food if you can get to the Brown Bag.

You almost don't notice this hidden gem when driving south on Rt. 1 through Rockland. Huge sandwiches and delicious home made baked goods. Friendly service and low prices make this a no-brainer.

If you're going through the effort to make GF bread & have a GF sandwich option... Don't grill it or prepare it where you make regular sandwiches. Last 2 times I've eaten there I've gotten horribly sick. Won't go back. Better options in Rockland!

When we go shopping in Rockland, we also plan to stop at the Brown Bag for a sandwich and cookie at the bakery next door. The choices on sandwiches are all great- but you might want to start with the Reuben. This is a "Platonic dish" in my opinion. The serving size is quite large and you can either save... More

Brown Bag is a perfect stop for lunch in the Rockland area. I came with three hungry children, everyone found something great to eat, chicken fingers to chowder, to gobbler sandwiches, even a perfect grilled cheese. Cookies were delicious - we tried peanut butter, chocolate chip and M&M. we loved ordering at the counter and then finding our table.

Every time I pass through Rockland I make it a point to stop at the Brown Bag solely in order to have the Brown Bag Ham Sandwich. I have literally re-arranged vacation plans in order to have this sandwich. The homemade bread is delicious, as is the combination of ham, artichoke hearts, and capers. In addition to the BBHS, they... More

We got sandwiches to go for our puffin cruise. Highly recommended by our innkeepers, this is not your average breakfast/lunch diner. Fresh quality ingredients. Loved the turkey sandwich. Great place for a picnic lunch whatever your activity in the midcoast area. Very good size portions. Also has a bakery for breakfast items or desserts. Easy to find downtown.
