We had heard wonderful things about Primo from friends who done there often, and we finally made it in to try for ourselves this summer. We felt like we were back in Italy! The wine selection is authentic and excellent! We dined upstairs in the bar and lingered for over two hours enjoying many small plates and specials that were... More

Wow...terrific, we waited for 40 min on a wed nite and was not disappointed! The restaurant was a wonderful converted 2 story house with greenhouses and gardens for the fresh farm to table food...we had small plates which were a fantastic price and a generous portion. The fresh warm ricotta with honey was delicious as well as the summer squash... More

This restaurant is not just great dining, its a great evening out. Of course you can make reservations for the more formal dining room downstairs which is ideal if you don't want to wait. We, however, decided to go the more casual upstairs dining room where you put your name in and wait (and on a busy night you might... More

We are traveling on our boat and the only two reasons why we stopped in Rockland is because of it's museum and Primo's restaurant. We made reservations in advance as we know how popular it is. We were not disappointed at all after hearing of the amazing comments from friends of ours. They have their own creations with whatever the... More

I was here for dinner on August 15th and it was a true pleasure, the place as you arrive tells you how is going to be your evening, beautiful, we were 4, me my wife and two kids 9-11, I ordered some pasta for the kids, as an Italian dad on holidays would do, The service was informale but very... Upscale rustic atmosphere, feels very warm, and yet sophisticated. Wonderful food, with plenty of local ingredients. Had an amazing time, it definitely lives up to it's hype.

Fantastic culinary experience! Must taste to believe. Just go there.... We had beautiful salads and squid appetizer. Scallops and bass, all prepared with the freshest of ingredients. Creative integration and presentation. Service impeccable! Doesn't get any better than this. Our only regret was that with two apps and two meals we were too full for what looked to be fabulous... This is more than a dinner. It's a whole evening and a memorable experience. The building is an old mansion with a rabbit warren of dark beautiful rooms -- great wood, great lighting. You immediately want a fine wine and one of the assortment of amazing cheeses listed on the chalkboard. Even the crusty warm bread and olive oil that... More

Primo reminds me of the great restaurants in Northern California. I suppose it should since the owner/chef did a tour at Chez Panisse. Oh, did I mention she won "two" James Beard awards? The food was quite beautifully prepared and equally palatable. Service was friendly, attentive and professional. Setting and structure are wonderful. Beautiful grounds and building. A great experience.

My expectations for Primo were so high, I sort of felt they would not be met, but in fact it was even better than I had hoped it would be. The entire meal, fish bread soup, and duck, was amazing but what really made it so special was how all the items I had with the duck worked so well... More
