The very best in Rockland by far

We ate a Primo six times last summer (July and August). Our meals were fabulous each time and they varied considerably in choices. We enjoy the areas upstairs and often try to sit at the counter but order off the main menu. Good wine list and wines by the glass. One of our all time favorite... read more

"#4 in Rockland"??? P-l-e-a-s-e. That only tells me the other three are stuffing the ballot box. Don't be fooled. Everyone knows Primo is a destination restaurant, by far the best in Rockland, maybe the best in Maine and one of the best in the Northeast. Chef Melissa Kelly is the first 2-time winner of the James Beard "Best Chef-Northeast" award.... More

So me and a couple of girls made a reservation originally for 8, I called to have it moved to 930. I got a phone call confirming the reservation for 930 (I still have the voicemail). We got to our reservation on time. When we walked through the door and gave our name and who the reservation was under the... More

So delicious! This was my third visit. I always learn about some new food or cooking technique when I've eaten here. This is a great place for special occasions. We enjoyed this visit. My only critique is that we sat in the right side dining room which feels more formal than the left side. We loosened up after a while... More

Food was fantastic here. We had the chicken dish appetizer and was melted in your mouth good. Chickens are raised behind the restaurant and was the freshest I ever tasted! Atmosphere is rustic in an old farmhouse style home yet classy. Wine and drink menu was superb also. One word. GO!

Back to Primo for a last meal on the bar before it closes for the winter. Fresh cod appetizers were very delicious and light. Very good service and atmosphere as always. Special pizza of goat cheese arugula and pear was awesome.

We enjoyed our last visit so much that we decided to return for the famous pork chop. It was worth the trip! We ordered the oyster appetizer as well as the camembert salad appetizer, both wonderful flavor experiences. While my husband savored the pork chop, I enjoyed the duck. I must say, however, that my absolute favorite part of this... More

My husband and I travel often and dine out at least four days each week. We have had the luxury of dining at some of the very best establishments, including top rated restaurants in New York City. Our first visit to Primo was in August 2015 and we both left agreeing that it was the best meal that we have... More

The restaurant is known for creative, fresh delicious food and it doesn't disappoint. I suspect that it is quite nice in the summer, but we had dinner on a very chilly evening. We informed our very profession and friendly waitress that we were just too cold and she told the evening manager who notched up the heat a little, but... More
