Great spot for freshly made sandwiches served, as advertised, on freshly baked breads. Had the 1/2 pound lobster roll which rivals Red's in Wiscasset for quality (but is a little more costly). Service was friendly; order at the register and find a table and they bring your food to you. Enjoyed reading the collection of older Maine magazines while eating.

On the way to pick up lobsters for the night's dinner we decided to stop at Clan MacLaren's for lunch. Although we visit Rockland each June this is the first time at this restaurant. We were not disappointed. Shared a Reuben made with pastrami. This is my husband's favorite sandwich and he said it was the best he's ever had.... More

After a week on the road with tired kids we were after a healthy alternative. The staff were friendly, accommodating and helpful. Lovely food and atmosphere.

Only got to visit Maine for the day and happened to stop in at Clan MacLaren's. We had the lobster roll on fresh bread and fish chowder-it was delicious. The service was great and friendly. To top off our meal we had freshly made mini pumpkin whoopie pie, can't decide which part was best:-) Can't wait to go back.

Quick service and yummy food. Lobster roll was so good on a fresh roll. Whoopie pie to die for was the desert of choice. Great value.

The freshest lobster, from the boat, to the pot, to my plate! Who wants a skimpy hot dog roll when you can order this lobster meat salad on a fresh bulkie roll! The perfect amount of mayo to keep it somewhat together, and able to savor the flavor of fresh cracked lobster. I cannot wait to go back and try... More

Absolutely one of the best BLTs ever. I'm not sure why - good bread, good bacon, warm cheese, just plain good. Other interesting sandwiches are on the extensive menu and lots of interesting sounding salads are to be found as well. The seafood chowder was amazing. Lobster (fresh caught by the owner), scallops and clams in a wonderful, rich, tasty... More

Lunch after the Farnsworth on August 22. Almost sent it back. Haddock chowder over thickened and almost all potatoes. Barely a scrap of fish. Very undistinguished lobster salad sandwich. Yes lobster, but no mayo, celery, et. Poor bun. Wife's chicken salad sandwich was tasteless. My advice is keep walking. There have to be spots with a better price to value... More

Stopped for lunch after a few hours in the Farnsworth (Fantastic exhibit of NC Wyeth's work in addition to permanent collection.) Order at the register and they make your sandwich or salad and bring it to your seat. Food was fresh and good and the fish chowder was exceptional. Staff were gracious and friendly.

I live in Rockland, and Clan MacLaren is my favorite lunch spot in downtown Rockland. The creative salads are the best anywhere. It's always hard to choose between the house-made maple vinaigrette dressing, or the spectacular oil and vinegars from Fiore (down the street). The sandwiches are equally good, as are the homemade soups and chowder. The shop is cute... More
