As a fish place it was ok... nothing great. We heard the change over to a pasta house was to keep food costs down and help make the business model work... I guess it didn't. Service was always just OK, food was alright, I guess... We have heard that Rosalyn's from Rockland will be opening a fried fish place there.... More

This was the first time we had been to Maine in several years and one of the first things I wanted to do when finally entering Maine was to stop and have some authentic Maine Clams and Clam Chowder. We almost drove past this place, but stopped and had lunch. It was great and set the tone for the rest... More

We have drove past this location many times, it use to be the big fish. We decided that tonight we would give it a try cause we were both in the mood for Pasta. The atmosphere was very cozy and nice. The menu was straight forward and looked great, but it stops there. The app of mussles that we got... More

We ate an early supper here. Very dark when you walked in, kind of cozy. Dinner was VERY good, we were not disapointed with our meals. We were disapointed with the size of your plate/bowl. They could up the portion size. The waitress servied my children and I sour milk! She did not at any time say sorry, But we... More

Maybe dinner, too, but we had lunch here on our way to Acadia and weren't dissapointed! Very charming place with a good selection of fish dishes (I had the excellent fish sandwich). Our waitress was all alone that day (late lunch around 3pm) and they were fairly busy on that rainy afternoon, but she did a great job keeping up... More

We aren't familiar with Rockland and it was a little busy, so stopped just outside of town at this quirky looking little place. It was very good. My husband had a tasty burger and I had the haddock sandwich which was excellent. The fish was very fresh and perfectly cooked. The service was attentive, friendly and fast. We would certainly... THIS PLACE HAS SMOKIN' SOUTHERN BBQ YOU CAN RARELY FIND UP NORTH AND ROCKIN' FRESH FISH. We were toward the end of our vacation and a bit "fished" out and really craving some good BBQ. We drove by the Big Fish Cafe sign and saw "BBQ". It was playful and inviting but..... (You see we are bbq snobs. We live... More

We stopped by here for a late lunch after scoping out many other restaurants in the area. We compared price, menu options, and reviews. The restaurant was empty so we were seated promptly by the friendly waitstaff. I had the fried WHOLE BELLY clams which were amazing. The fries were great and the cole slaw had grapes in it which... This looked like an interesting roadside seafood spot. We should have traveled further down the road to Rockland center. The place is clean and has a little bar, but our meal was at best average in quality and value. I had the special fish sandwich (haddock) and my wife gave the fish tacos a shot. Portions were small for the... More

We ate here two nights in a row (and ate here twice on a past visit to Maine) and have never been disappointed. From the homemade salad dressings and tartar sauce to the carefully prepared seafood, you just cannot go wrong at the Big Fish. The fried fish is perfectly cooked, those wonderful Maine shrimp are sweet and wonderful in... More
