Hands down this is one of the best little restaurants you will ever visit! It's indeed a rarity these days...excellent food, friendly staff, and great service. We were only in the area for the weekend but both meals we had here were memorable. The fish tacos were amazing! And don't miss the Benny Mac for breakfast...an unlikely combination that is... More

I was just sitting here daydreaming about our return to Maine in July 2012, and started a mental compilation of must go to restaurants during our 2 week stay. Home Kitchen Cafe immediately came to mind as it is about an hours drive from where we stay in Boothbay. It is well worth the effort. My wife's egg bennie was... More

The cooking here is superb. Everything I've tried I've loved. Great atmosphere, too. A gem of a place for breakfast or lunch. More

The atmosphere is Greenwich villagey or a bit San Francisco ish.We sat at the counter and I had a fabulous STAC sandwich-yummy sauce and veggies-boxed half to take away and ended up snarfing it up in the car home!Hubby had the plain burger and enjoyed it.Coleslaw is really good here and that is a staple I judge cafes on.Bread is... Ate here a few weeks ago because it was recommended by a friend who cooks great, local and nutritious food from scratch. Have been in the restaurant biz for 31 years and have rarley worked or even eaten in a place that cooks such honest, great tasting food, period! It didn't hurt that eveyone working there who I spoke with... More

it's so good, it needs to be shared! I love a good breakfast and I particularly love corned beef hash. My home town has a breakfast spot that cures their own corned beef and makes hash and it's very good, but Home Kitchen's hash is spectacular!!! And then there's the sticky buns, loaded with pecans, and their polenta.....I could go... More

I visited the Home Kitchen Cafe three times during a recent visit to the Rockland area. The food was excellent! This is my favorite breakfast spot in Rockland. I had the chicken frittata (called Fly Away Home) and it was outstanding. A new combination for me and it's a real winner! The place is small and busy but the service... More

We went for lunch today and I must say it was delicious. Very fresh food prepared just right. We loved the look of the place, very hip in our opinion for a small space. Friendly atmosphere and great service. We can't wait to go back. Our new favorite place. More

I'm leaving to return south and had to have another meal at the Home Kitchen Cafe. I had my usual, Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon, tomato Hollandaise to die for. But since I didn't die, I had a half a sticky bun, warm with butter on it. Now my life is complete. If I never eat again, I am happy.... More
