The food was out of this world. It reminded me of a old time café. The staff was very friendly and I would highly recommend going here to eat. Prices are reasonable. Just wish it was open longer at night.

Had breakfast at Brass Compass on recent visit to Rockland. Friendly and prompt service. Patrons were mix of tourists and colorful locals. I had eggs and corned beef hash with toast. All were delicious and prepared just as ordered. A companion noted that they actually know how to soft scramble eggs, which is not easy to find. Nothing fancy, just... More

we are repeat customers, but this time we saw a difference...the lobster roll had so much mayonaise on it that you could not taste the lobster....ruined it...asked if they made them with butter as an alternative, answer was no. The place was hectic in the ambiance, and a bit over priced...as the lobster roll was 16.99 and not good this... More

Stopped here for lunch recently while visiting Maine. Outstanding food and service! The lobster roll was one of the best I had over five days along several coastal towns. Friendly staff and great service, glad we stopped.

We were staying at the Trade Winds Hotel and it was just a short walk to the Brass Compass Cafe which was highly recommended to us. Their breakfasts are fantastic...service was quick and friendly, prices were reasonable. I ordered pancakes one day, and they were as big as the plate! And delicious!! I would definitely recommend this hometown cafe and... More

Bobby Flay had a throw down there and he lost to their lobster club sandwich which we ordered with a plate of whole belly clams. Sandwich had a large piece of home made bread with lettuce, tomato and bacon on the bottom another piece of bread with over a pound of lobster on it with a 3rd piece of bread... More

The windows were open, sea breeze coming through, the kitchen is close at hand, and the booths were comfy. We got the haddock reuben and cole slaw. Wow! Thick bread, buttery, and all the flavors brought together to make one great lunch. We'll be back!

Fantastic staff and fantastic pancakes! I had pumpkin pecan pancakes.... Enough food for 2 meals! Perfect location with outdoor seating if you wanted and a great breakfast selection. Yum!

After touring the Farnsworth Museum, we were looking for a place to eat lunch. There are several restaurants within a block or two and the museum gift shop even gave us a list. As we walked around, we just happened on the Brass Compass and went in. On the museum's list it's categorized under "diner" and that is what it... More
