For some reason, other than ice cream, desserts are scare in Rockland so we came for ice cream. They serve Gifford's which is very good and the prices were so low--at least compared to the Boston area. They also serve pizza which we didn't try but it looked pretty good.

Stopped here for lunch as we headed home after a 5 day stay in the area. Great space and very nice and friendly staff. We ordered pizza and blt's. pizza was good but very soggy crust. We are from NYC so our pizza standards may be unfair. Blt's were very fresh with amazing bacon and tomatoes. We ordered one blt... More

Awesome staff at Thorndike's. We had pizza which was good, not out of this world or anything like that. One unknown fact about Thorndike is that they have a fairly organic menu which is not advertised. Did not have time to try the ice cream this time, but last time we were there it was very good with a lot... More

I review by the type of restaurant, not by five star restaurant criteria, and that is why I'm giving five stars. This is a little corner cafe, not the Ritz Carlton . If you are snobby, stop reading now and look for another restaurant ;-) Food: a good variety....pizza, and not just typical pizza, lots of toppings, great crust, soups,... More

Good ice cream treats. we had to wait a bit for the ice cream order to come in. But the wait was worth it! The moosetracks was really tasty! The pistachio was excellent! The salted caramel with pretzels was the best!

Dropped in Thorndike's for a late lunch after walking the Rockland Breakwater light. We were hungry and got our orders placed quickly for lunch. The food was fine but took longer than we expected to be delivered. No complaints at all on the ice cream - huge selection of flavors. The shop is cute - just what you would expect... More

We only had ice cream here, but the menu sounded intriguing. The staff were super friendly and helpful to us and each other. The flavors are fun and delicious, although the servings are smallish. I wouldn't bother with anything less than a medium unless you want to eat light. Of course I'm an ice cream-aholic, so take that with a... More

I enjoyed eating my after dinner dessert there. However I will say the young ladies that work there are NOT the friendliest I've met. As you can see by the images I posted the flavors are amazing. The ice cream is just creamy delicious and decadent. However, I felt like the employees didn't care whether we were there or not.... More

I eat here 2 - 4 times a week. The staff are friendly and greet you by name. Fantastic daily specials of Pizza by the slice. Some of the best pizza I've had and definitely the best in the midcoast! I'm not an Ice Cream guy but they have a sweet classic ice cream shop here too!

Being away from home, you never know what you're going to get...add on a food allergy and it's a real challenge. I googled GF restaurants in the Rockland/Camden area. Thorndike was on the list...we picked it and was so satisfied that we did!! Best, I mean THE best gluten free pizza I've ever had in 11 years of being a... More
