My son loves this place!

The staff at the Thorndike Creamery has always impressed me because they are always so pleasant. The place has a funky feel to it and has both tables and bar seating along the window facing the side street (Tillson Avenue). There's a huge chalkboard and chalk for doodling and a bulletin board... read more

The Thorndike is a part of Rockland history. Used to be a brothel.. now an ice cream shop :- P Also, they have pizza... it is a little pricy, but a damn good pie.

The pizza is not good. The crust is pre-made and tough as the cardboard box it came in. The sauce tasted like pasta sauce. $ 25 for a large with a few extra toppings. Is this the best pizza in Rockland? Absolutely not!

We really were looking for a nice meal after our visit to the Farnsworth Art Museum, but it was 3 pm and most of the restaurants in downtown Rockland were closed between the lunch and dinner hours. Even though this place is called Thorndike Creamery, it is so much more. There was a large selection of food items and it... More

The ice cream is Gifford's brand which is fine. The sandwiches were good. We didn't have the pizza because they couldn't give us a reliable estimate of how long it might take. In fact the two of the staff on duty were next to useless. One simply said she had no idea how long it took for a pizza and... More

My husband and I drove through Rockland on our way home & decided to stop in this cute "pizzaria" on the corner. We did NOT expect to have such incredible food! Its so lovely inside as well. The staff is young and attentive, it scores a 10 in cleanliness & atmosphere and when we took one look at their huge... More

For some reason, other than ice cream, desserts are scare in Rockland so we came for ice cream. They serve Gifford's which is very good and the prices were so low--at least compared to the Boston area. They also serve pizza which we didn't try but it looked pretty good.

Stopped here for lunch as we headed home after a 5 day stay in the area. Great space and very nice and friendly staff. We ordered pizza and blt's. pizza was good but very soggy crust. We are from NYC so our pizza standards may be unfair. Blt's were very fresh with amazing bacon and tomatoes. We ordered one blt... More

Awesome staff at Thorndike's. We had pizza which was good, not out of this world or anything like that. One unknown fact about Thorndike is that they have a fairly organic menu which is not advertised. Did not have time to try the ice cream this time, but last time we were there it was very good with a lot... More
