The dishes appeal to all tastes. Absolutely love the brussel sprouts. Excellent stir frys. Parking can be a problem in that part of town at certain times so plan your time accordingly.

Found this gem of a restaurant in Portland. They don't take bookings and were full when we arrived, but we were seated within 5 minutes. The food was very tasty and appealed to the non veggies as well. The Thai red curry was possibly the best I've ever tasted !! The food was reasonably priced. Well worth a visit.

The Green Elephant was recommended to us by the owner of the B&B where we stayed. In a great neighborhood of shops, galleries and the museum. We were there for lunch. Delicious entrees. We had the stir frys with brown rice and they were well-prepared and filling. Well lit and clean restaurant.

What a delightful experience to have dinner at this restaurant!!!! As a recently converted vego it was amazing to be able to walk into a restaurant and order anything off the menu. The food was fabulous, fresh, arrived quickly and generously proportioned. The service was very friendly and very reasonably priced. Will definitely go back again and certainly would recommend... We go to this restaurant all the time and have never once had a meal that was anything less than amazing! Friendly, efficient and helpful staff couldn't be nicer. Great menu with lots of choices - it is always hard to decide - and then I always end up getting the Thai Ginger Noodles. And if you think you hate... More

Everything I have ordered during several visits has been exceptional - fresh and very delicious. Do try the roasted brussels sprouts appetizer - people at the hotel and on the airport shuttle were gushing over them! Wow! A large menu with interesting drink options (two lovely mead choices), handy locale, experienced staff, very reasonable prices, and food that will convince... More

It was hard to find a good vegetarian restaurant in many other parts of Maine so we were thrilled when we found this place. The staff is very friendly, efficient, and accommodating. We don't eat soy and seitan so it was nice to see many other options. We had the Fresh Rolls for a starter and the Steamed Assorted Vegetables... More

I am honestly a little embarrassed to only be writing a review of this restaurant now. We have been coming to The Green Elephant for years and every time, and I mean literally every time, we have had an incredible dining experience. The food at this Portland establishment is some of the freshest and thoughtfully prepared in the city, which... More

I was taken there for a birthday dinner while on vacation, and liked the place so much that we went back again the next day… :)

Friends mentioned going here and having excellent meals, no matter what menu selection they chose. The night we went, a weekday evening, the restaurant soon filled with a wait time of 35 minutes. Once we checked out the menu, both of us were in a quandary as to meal choices because so much of the menu sounded worth a try.... More
