Not a stand out but still quite good

We needed to get out of the house for the weekend so booked a package at the Regency with dinner and breakfast included. Yes, we know Portland has so many great options, but with a winter storm, this was easy and 20 Milk St still has a good reputation. For dinner, we started with a great roasted... read more

Very quaint and quite place. There was a gentleman playing soft music on a piano, which made the evening even more enjoyable. The waitress was very good and added many suggestions for us. The food was tasty and reasonably priced. A great place for a romantic dinner.

Joined a friend of mine for dinner last night and started with the oysters on half shelf and scallops; both dishes were amazing in flavor, presentation and preparation. The Cesar salad was wonderfully fresh, with extra anchovies as requested, and the main course - the filet was prepared just to our liking. Overall the food was excellent, dessert was ok,... More

We went there for dinner on a Saturday night. We made reservations and were promptly seated when we arrived. The hostess and waitress were both very friendly and attentive. The place is quite small but I enjoy that type of intimate atmosphere. There was a man playing the piano which was also quite nice. They have a good wine selection... More

This restaurant is inside the Regency. It has good ambiance and historical charm. I have eaten here many times. we started our dinner with the crab cake and scallop appetizers both are deserving of five stars. Then on to soup and salad, clam chowder and crab salad, both good but more in the range of 3 to 4 stars. Dinner,... More

The cozy atmosphere is great at 20 Milk Street. The ceilings have been coffered and the walls padded to provide a more pleasant and quiet experience. Our waiter, John, was what waiters are supposed to be: professional, knowledgeable, and perfect with timing. I had the hash with two poached eggs and toast which was delicious. If you've ever had the... More

We were guests at the Regency and decided the first morning to have breakfast there after peeking inside this attractively decorated room. It was a damp and chilly October morning and the beautiful fireplace looked very inviting. Our server 'John' was very attentive and pleasant. My husband ordered the pancakes which were huge. He was very pleased with his selection... More

I am not the type to complain but I feel obligated to warn everyone about this seriously bad restaurant. Hands down, this was the worst dining experience we have ever had. The service was beyond extremely poor, the food took well over an hour to get to us and then when it finally arrived, it was cold. Two people in... More

We were four friends celebrating a major birthday year, and our lunch at 20 Milk Street made our day very, very special. The room is quite elegant, our server was engaging and efficient with good suggestions for our meal. A perfect glass of wine, lobster stew, fresh tuna, a lobster salad -- all were delicious and beautifully presented. And, as... More

We were seated at a roomy corner booth and totally enjoyed the lobster bisque and house salads. The location in the heart of the Old Port is great for attending a show at the Merrill after dinner.
