Interesting Spanish restaurant

The food was great, the décor is interesting (antique tin ceiling with visible air ducts, local art displayed for sale on the walls). The food was great, the décor is interesting (antique tin ceiling with visible air ducts, local art displayed for sale on the walls). The service was a bit slow but the server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the food and history of the restaurant. It's not the place for a cozy quiet meal - there's a strong bar/lounge scene... More

I loved the vibe of this place and returned a second time for seafood paella. Local 188 has good service, a great vibe, and unique and delicious dishes. I came back for paella - they have a few to choose from. When in Portland - by all means - check it out. Free and plentiful parking in rear; great Longfellow... More

Not having been to Portland I was recommended this restaurant from a friend. It has a great atmosphere and vibe. From amazing infused drinks, to meals to share you won't be disappointed.

We were visiting this fine city during the Old Port Festival walking around and listening to some of the bands playing Live! We ended up on Congress abit parched noticed the Local 188 was open so we walked in greeted by the hostess, seated us and informed us that brunch was ending very soon. Our waiter Andy arrived seconds after... More

My wife and I frequent this venue for Brunch often, and we're never disappointed. Great Bloody Mary's, with just the right amount of heat, go perfectly with the Corned Beef Hash, or the industrial size English Muffins, or the Breakfast Burrito. Truly hard not to pick a winner. And the ambience? Imagine being a character in the famous TV sitcom,... More

i had high hopes, having heard what a great restaurant scene portland, ME has. the options sounded delicious, but unfortunately did not deliver. the potatoes bravas were a dried out disappointment, something i would have expected at a diner for $3.99. the celeraic root salad could have been amazing if it had more then the 3 slices of celeriac in... I popped into Local 188 during a recent day trip in Maine. I didn't eat, but enjoyed their beer selection (great value during the late night happy hour that start at 10pm Mon-Fri) and a very cool electronic modern jazz duo that were playing that evening. There was a good sized and eclectic crowd even for a Tuesday night. I... More

Dining at Local 188 has been on our to do list for quite some time. We dined there last night and loved everything about it. Our server, Hellevi, was just outstanding. When we mentioned allergies, she was most helpful and knowledgeable. Did I mention the food? The fried garlic was amazing as was the gnocchi and risotto. The paella looked... More

Called in early evening just for a drink. The place was not overly busy, but the bar seating was full. Sat adjacent to the the bar and was served by a very pleasant young lady who was both informative and attentive. Big selection of drinks to go at, in fact the drinks menu is like reading a book! Enjoyed our... More

Nice place, with a great bar that has delicious cocktails. Food was good, but a little pricey for what it was.
