Went with a group of friends. I'd say the atmosphere is a strong point. The vibe, decor, and layout are nicely done and conducive to varying party sizes. The waitstaff was courteous and available but not obtrusive. The food was good. I had deviled eggs which were nice. A little strange that there were only 3 1/2's but nice. Not... More

We were only in Portland for a night and wanted to have a really nice dinner out while we were in town. We ended up picking this place and it was amazing. I had the Paella and I cleaned up the entire pan full. We shared multiple small appetizers at my table and they were all very good. We also... More

The first thing that jumps out is the restaurant decor but it is not stark / sterile. It has an industrial type feel, along with some soft furniture seating areas. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the daily specials as well as the details on every other dish that we inquired about. We ordered the special ham / cheese croquettes,... More

We went to Local 188 because we were craving Paella. Needless to say, it was delicious! It was filled with delicious seafood and rice. Had a really nice flavor and the portion was big enough that we went home feeling full.

Loved the bar. We had eaten somewhere else and just wanted an after dinner drink. Wished we had a chance to eat here. It looked delicious. The bartender was great - he even knew the Bruins score.

We have been to Local 188 more than once before so that made our disappointment even harder. We ordered two dinners and the portions were so small that we ate large portions of veggies out of our garden as soon as we got home. The two entrees came with no sides, were small and not particularly tasty. They could have... More

Last Saturday we took a ride in town to get some brunch.. Been here several times the food is good but limited menu. Especially if you have a gluten allergy. I was very surprised by the hostess response when we wanted to wait for a table. It wasn't a warm and fussy feeling and he surely let us know we... More

Local 188 is an interesting mix of a huge bar with exotic drinks, extensive wine list and long list of domestic and foreign brews. The menu ranges from tapas to full entrees. The place is a curious blend of genres, but everything comes out well. My partner had the hanger steak and it was superb. I had a shrimp tapa... More

Local 188 is out in the West End which in of itself is a very boho neighborhood. We came in for brunch and were not disappointed. The inside is very cool and almost like an open concept mish mosh of cool furniture and decor from an antique store or flea market. The staff here is super friendly as we came... More
