Nice West End restaurant

Neighborhood restaurant in the West End of Portland. Good food and normal servings, not small portions on large plates. Comfortable but a bit pricey.

We were pleased to be seated right away. The service was great, very attentive. The menu had just enough variety. The food was terrific. I had the chicken marsala. The atmosphere was that of a neighborhood restaurant, not at all stuffy. The prices were very reasonable. We definitely plan to go back.

They were very friendly and the food was delicious. It was recommended by a local inn and I was not disappointed.

After being seated by the hostess, we sat for 10-15 minutes with no service at a table on the patio while the waitress, with a total of three tables (seven people), chatted with the three women at the table adjacent to us, never turning around to acknowledge our presence or to offer us any service beyond the menus and water.... We arrived in Portland with no restaurants in mind. Our nearby B&B recommended Caiola's. Really exceptional small neighborhood restaurant. The word "unpretentious" comes to mind. Excellent food and wine. I particularly enjoyed the pork and beef ragu. We'd certainly return..

After a drenching late afternoon rain, just sauntered into this restaurant after driving to it - 3 minutes from Center of Portland, on a side street. Excellent meal - as per the suggestion of another TA review, we ordered the paella and shared it. More than enough food, simply and elegantly and superbly prepared. If the chairs are dry, you... We found Caiola's quite by accident due to the B&B we were staying at in the same neighborhood. This was an excellent find. The food was unique and excellent and the service prompt and courteous. In addition I found the pricing very reasonable for the quality of the food. I would come back to Portland just to eat at Caiola's

We were staying a block away from Caiola's and decided to have our last meal in Portland there. We'd eaten on the docks and tried to get reservations at the highly recommended restaurants near Commercial Street but couldn't get in. As it turns out this was by far a better choice. We were treated as welcomed guests by all the... More

Excellent service and excellent food. Everything very fresh and at the proper temp. Salad was cold, Gazpacho was cool, paella was hot, and so was steak. All accompaniments were well cooked and temp as well. One odd thing, they do not serve chianti by the glass.

Understated, small, and tucked away on the westside of Portland, this restaurant should be garnering more attention than the "upscale" foodie place, where hostesses treat you with disdain when you dare attempt to make a reservation. From the moment you enter this venue, you are treated as a friend. The garden in the back is a great spot to dine,... More
