I am so glad I ate dinner here while in town! Firstly, their free bread and cheese spread was so good!!! The waitress actually gave me 2 lots since I ate all of the first...it was so good!! I had a cannelloni dish which was just amazing! Every single bite and desert was something chocolate (can't remember the name) but... More

We had the most amazing time, one of favourite meals of all time and we consider ourselves foodies. Starters were polenta fries, beetroot salad with goats cheese and peanut. Quite simply out of this world. Entrees were Chicken Marsala and homemade canneloni stuffed with pepper, ricotta and spinach. Both dishes were sublime. The chicken marsala sauce is without doubt one... More

I have been serveral times and always have a great time. The food is flawless!!!! It continues to amaze me that she can put out so many different dishes and each and everyone is perfectly prepared, seasoned and accompanied. Service is excellent, well informed and timed. You do not feel rushed. It is a cozy atmosphere and a lovely old... More

Perhaps I hit it on a rare off night, but I see nothing of accuracy in the majority of the positive reviews here on TripAdvisor regarding Caiola's. The tables looked like they came from a rummage sale (rustic? generous term); they had NO BREAD and offered no substitute; and the meals were not even close to Italian portions - very... More

Had dinner by myself at the bar on a rainy, gray evening in March. Friendly staff, nice bartender, prompt service and great food. I'd highly recommend this restaurant if you want a casual but very nice place for dinner.

At the recommendation of The Inn at Carelton B&B (a fantastic place to stay), my wife and I had dinner at Caiola's. The menu is short, but they offered a good variety. I was amazed by the size of the meal. We loved our meals and that the prices were closer to a standard run-of-the-mill restaurant, but the meals were... More

Every year we take a trip up to Portland for the Maine Boatbuilder's Boat Show and to sample the restaurant scene. This year we gave Caiola's a try. It's a cozy, small-ish neighborhood bistro with an outsized foodie reputation. I made reservations well in advance as it was both boat show and St. Patrick's Day weekend. We arrived at 8... More

In a small city which is one of the top foodie towns in the USA, Cailola's stands out as the premier hoddie restaurant. On the edge of the moneyed side of Portland, the two women who run this place have proven since day 1 that they are putting out a winner's showing every day. Absolutely great food in a varying...
