My wife took me to Caiola's in Portland, Maine for my birthday dinner this week. I picked this restaurant because they serve paella, one of my favorite dishes. The restaurant is small and cozy, some might say cramped. The staff had to do some juggling to seat a party of six next to us. The atmosphere was low key kind... More

A genuine neighborhood classic, with consistently warm and welcoming staff; innovative and expertly prepared food (that surprises in comforting ways!); a kitchen under the remarkable direction of a gifted and innovative chef (we love Abby!), and that is owned and brought to life by the most generous, real, creative and wonderful people (we love Lisa, too!). This is where we... More

My husband surprised me with a birthday celebration last night at Caola's and reserved the wine room for our party of 12. The space was awesome, the food amazing and wine terrific! I highly recommend this neighbor spot for its food and charm!

Ate at Caiola's while visiting friends in Portland for one night. As locals they chose the restaurant, and it couldn't have been any better!! We started with the cheese plate and polenta fries. The cheese plate was substantial with a good variety of cheeses and accompaniments. We all had fabulous meals. My boyfriend had the paella which was full of... More

We were visiting family in Portland over the weekend and my nephew suggested we try Caiola's. Great suggestion! Everyone enjoyed their entree selection from Chicken Marsala, Spanish Paella, the famous Caiolas Burger and the fish special. I made reservations for 7:30 and was seated immediately; however, I understand that it is a popular neighborhood restaurant and you should make reservations... More

One of the best meals I have ever had..... Chef Abby served myself and my friends a extraordinary four course meal that was absolutely amazing in February 2014. This is not the first time we have had the pleasure to dine at Caiola's and we have always been amazed with quality of the food, the presentation of the dishes, the... More

Dinner here on the 17th and glad we arrived right around 5, to beat the resulting crowd. Wife went with a buffalo shrimp appetizer and I had the addicting Polenta Fries with Smoked Paprika, Cheddar Cheese and a Tomato and Red Pepper Relish. Both appetizers hit the spot!! I went with the Caesar with Fried Spicy Oysters and she had... More

We were in town during the off-season and went here on recommendation of a friend. We couldn't have been more delighted. From the moment we entered this small restaurant we were treated like family. The steak and seafood dishes were wonderful. The waiter's wine recommendation paired perfectly. We will return any time we are in the area.
