Good food!

My husband and I were able to walk to this restaurant from a nearby Inn, which was a huge plus. I had the fresh halibut, which was excellent and my husband had a pasta dish that was good. Overall the food was very enjoyable. The service was spotty. They did not seem to have enough staff on hand... read more

My husband and I enjoyed a very nice dinner after arriving in Portland. He had mussels which were large and delicious. I had the halibut and it was very good and cooked perfectly. He had the salmon which was also excellent. We shared an innovative dessert of tahini cake and fennel sorbet.

My husband and I live part time in Portland, and had guests visiting from Washington, DC. Our guests look forward to meals which are thoughtfully prepared and well presented using fresh local produce. My husband and I had been to Caiola's years ago but only for brunch, so decided to give it a try, based on other reviews and a... More

Quaint little place. I saw some good reviews and like what I saw on the sample menus on their website, so figured we should try it. Very glad that we did. Before I mention anything else, I need to state that I tried one of the very best appetizers that I've had in my entire life here Caiola's. Hands down... More

This is an appropriately busy (reservations are helpful in the summer), well-managed, and friendly restaurant, The waitstaff are attentive and knowledgeable. The six of us were mostly drinking water on a warm evening, and our glasses were constantly being refilled. The food is great, and save room for the tasty desserts.

My husband and I usually dine on Friday nights with another couple but this night we found ourselves alone and wanting to try something a little different. I had been to Caiola's once many years ago and remember it being a nice spot so we called and were able to get a reservation for 5:30 that evening. We were taken... More

Caiola's has the feel of a neighborhood restaurant and the food of a downtown dining spot. It is friendly, informal and intimate while serving great seasonal, regional food. Lots of seafood, usually cooked in inventive ways; crab bread pudding and mussels with chorizo were among the things we ate there recently. Dependably very, very good.

We have been in Portland many times for a medical camp for my daughter in Casco Maine. We have eaten at the same places for years. Tonight we decided on something different. We saw the reviews and decided to walk. Little did we know how far from our hotel it was. When we got there we were in for a... More

We came here to celebrate our niece's college graduation and reserved the private wine cellar for our party of 12. It worked out very well for conversation and privacy; just know that one must negotiate stairs to the lower level. The use of local produce and suppliers in both Italian and non-Italian dishes was delicious. The adjacent parking lot was... More

Chose this restaurant in good part because it was the most highly rated one close to where we staying. We were pleasantly surprised at the very high quality of the food and service. For food, my wife had a chowder and then mussels. I ate Italian. All was very good. For dessert, we split a lime marscapone. Excellent. And parking... More
