Gritty McDuff's, Maine's Original Brew Pub specializes in hand-crafted English style ales and traditional and creative pub fare, in a friendly and fun atmosphere. Both Gritty's fine ales and the pubs have won countless "best of" awards through our twenty-five years of operation. Our standard brews are session beers, Gritty's Pub-Style Pale Ale, McDuff's Best Bitter, Black Fly Stout, allowing one to have multiple beers within a reasonable time period without overwhelming the senses. Our seasonal and varietal ale offerings are more adventurous, some with a higher ABV, and some with higher IBU. We brew a beer for all craft brew palates. For the diner, we offer traditional pub fare alongside not so traditional specialty items. Our pub-style long tables with benches easily accommodate parties of all sizes and add to the camaraderie.

Old Port Pub Find

We decided to visit Portland and wander around the Old Port section of town. While walking up and down the brick and cobblestone walkways, we came across Gritty McDuffs and decided this was exactly what we were looking for - a pub with some charm and good food. You seat yourself at picnic benches... read more

We went here while on vacation because my husband thinks of himself as a beer afficianado...not sure I agree but the food was fantastic! I had the lobster mac & cheese and it was absolutely delicious. We visited with our teenage kids. The seating is at long indoor picnic table style tables with a few high round tables with bar... We stopped in for lunch on a busy weekend. We sat at the bar, which is beautiful by itself. The bartender was on top of her game, serving a super busy bar and promptly taking care of our meal orders too. Beer was good, had the summer, food was tasty and came quickly, despite the big crowd. Highly recommend for beer... More

What a great pub in Portland, awesome craft beer brewed right at this place. For beer lovers, this is a must. The food was also excellent. I am from quebec, so i had to try the famous mac and cheese, what a great meal. This is a must stop place in Portland.

There were about 6 different ales on tap and a wide selection of bottles (but why bother??). Its a comfortable brew pub with a long bar, tables and tall tables and stools. The staff were very friendly - everyone of them - and the dinner was very good. One of the best Ruben sandwiches I've had in a while.

We stopped here as part of our Maine Foodie Tour, and I am glad it was part of it! We only got to try the Lobster Taco, and it was delicious. Hands down, one of the best tacos I have had. It was unfortunate that we were not able to try anything else, because if it was like that taco,... More

Loved the Pub style Pale Ale!! Vacationland summer brew - meh! No frills lunch of burgers, & salad. Steak panini was nice change up.

I was pretty disappointed this past Friday afternoon at Grittys. My boyfriend and I went for an early dinner about 4pm and it was not busy on this afternoon. We ordered a beer and a cape cod. After waiting at least 10 minutes and wondering where our drinks were, the waiter came back to the table and said he forgot... More

Gritty's is a nice place to grab lunch or dinner. The long communal tables make the restaurant a great place to go after work with a group of friends. The menu is typical pub fare, but is always cooked well. They have a great selection of beers on tap and the servers are very friendly.

Thank you for taking time to note our traditional pub setting with the communal tables as an ideal meeting place. Our servers appreciate the positive nod, and of course, many thanks on the compliments to our beer. We'll look forward to serving you again. Cheers! More
