Blue Spoon is a small neighborhood restaurant that turns out remarkable food. The service is excellent; the staff is friendly and efficient; the tiny kitchen produces fabulous meals. After eating there at least once a week for a year or so, we've yet to be disappointed.

I've been here many times, but have not reviewed before now. What prompted me to this time was due to what I felt was a shift in service. I've always viewed the Blue Spoon as a refined and casually elegant little hideaway on the East End. There's always a cool mix of diners, ranging from the theater crowd to the... More

My wife, adult son, and I went to the Blue Spoon for a casual dinner. Service was helpful and attentive. There were a lot of interesting choices for a "small restaurant". Convenient to downtown and the Eastern Promenade. We consumed the Meze appetizer plate (which is good for 3 or 4 people), red beet salad with added chicken, free range... More

My wife and I stopped by one Saturday afternoon for lunch. We each ordered the Bistro Burger and Potato Salad. The burgers were cooked as ordered - hers was rare and mine medium rare. They came on a not your regular burger bun, which was a good thing. The bun had good flavor and complimented the burger. The real surprise... More

In our quest to get to know Portland, we ate at the Blue Spoon as part of our walk around Munjoy Hill and a visit to the Portland Observatory. What a delight! The restaurant is small but smartly furnished with clean contemporary lines. There are a few tables outside, street side for eating. We chose to eat indoors and were... More

Portland is chock full of great restaurants, but we always find time to eat at the Blue Spoon, and are never disappointed. What I'd give for one of their grilled cheese sandwiches right now!! As luck would have it the last day of our trip, the rain caused us to cancel our luncheon plans . . . where to go... More

We dined at Blue Spoon after reading about it and this will be the first of what we hope will be many meals there. Everything was wonderful, from a knowledgable, attentive, and pleasant waitress to our delicious meals. We ate outside in spite of a chilly breeze in order to enjoy the neighborhood ambiance. There is an emphasis on local... More

Everyone had burgers and we enjoyed them, but the warm potato salad was what was truly special. The waitress spoke highly of the coconut flan, and that was a hit as well. The beer choices were excellent.

This place totally rocks and for our 2nd visit it did not disappoint. Our group went with polenta fritters, fried egg toast (smoked mozzarella, finochio salami), spicy squid, and, moroccan lamb bbq hand pie as appetizers and starters. There were no clear winners and any or all of them should be on any diners list. Our entrees were grilled flank... More

We visited Blue Spoon mid-week. It answered our need of a restaurant with a variety of smaller dishes that would satisfy without "stuffing." The menu of tapas, appetizers, and entrees provided a wide variety of meals to select from. Everything we tried was tasty, served promptly, and pleasing to the eye. The restaurant is small and cozy; recommendations seem necessary... More
