We were driving through Portland and were to meet our son for dinner. He suggested the Blue Spoon and it was a great choice. We were first surprised at how small it is but the menu was varied and wonderful. I had the grilled trout as a primi and it was terrific. We shared some muscles that were delicious, and... More

Nice place for a special brunch. Always is busy. Get an appetizer or first course, food is cooked to order and takes some time (Sunday morning).nice assortment of entres, including an incredibly good hamburger. Coffee was a little week. It's open for dinner and has a full bar. Suggest reservations even for brunch n

Blue Spoon is a tiny and intimate restaurant that we believe rates 5 very big stars. Everything about it is right...the restaurant is charming, the service was delightful and the food is over the top great. The very talented chef uses as many locally sourced ingredients as possible with an end result that is fresh and creative. If we get... More

It was getting late so we chose Blue Spoon for a quick, light dinner in the this cute cafe'. The space is intimate and cozy, and warmly decorated. I imagine a great spot to be in on a cold Maine winter evening. They offer tapas style dining, John chose the grilled eggplant and the Maine fish chowder, Sara and I... More

My wife and I enjoyed a relaxing dinner with very good fish and vegetarian tapas dishes. Lighting and ambience were excellent, as was the service.

Blue Spoon is a small neighborhood restaurant that turns out remarkable food. The service is excellent; the staff is friendly and efficient; the tiny kitchen produces fabulous meals. After eating there at least once a week for a year or so, we've yet to be disappointed.

I've been here many times, but have not reviewed before now. What prompted me to this time was due to what I felt was a shift in service. I've always viewed the Blue Spoon as a refined and casually elegant little hideaway on the East End. There's always a cool mix of diners, ranging from the theater crowd to the... More

My wife, adult son, and I went to the Blue Spoon for a casual dinner. Service was helpful and attentive. There were a lot of interesting choices for a "small restaurant". Convenient to downtown and the Eastern Promenade. We consumed the Meze appetizer plate (which is good for 3 or 4 people), red beet salad with added chicken, free range... More

My wife and I stopped by one Saturday afternoon for lunch. We each ordered the Bistro Burger and Potato Salad. The burgers were cooked as ordered - hers was rare and mine medium rare. They came on a not your regular burger bun, which was a good thing. The bun had good flavor and complimented the burger. The real surprise... More

In our quest to get to know Portland, we ate at the Blue Spoon as part of our walk around Munjoy Hill and a visit to the Portland Observatory. What a delight! The restaurant is small but smartly furnished with clean contemporary lines. There are a few tables outside, street side for eating. We chose to eat indoors and were... More
